Assuming you have a computer and ADSL in London, why not leave your computer in London on, and Rdesktop/SSH/whatever in from Switzerland. Download material to your London PC then transfer across to your Swiss PC.
Yes of course its not ideal, but at least this way you get to see the stuff.
Bank of Scotland Royal Bank of Scotland Clydesdale Bank
Pretty crazy when you've got a mix in your wallet! The banks do agree to keep the same colours for the denominations.
There's also the £100 note also. The Bank of Englands highest note is the £50.
I've had trouble spending £5 Scottish notes in England, most small places won't take them. Larger RBS and BoS notes I haven't had a problem with. Clydesdale notes are the least recognised in the UK so they don't get accepted more than most. Forget about any £1 notes, get them changed at the bank.
Yes, RISC OS browsers certainly aren't the best, but you can get to access most things, and Netsurf (http://netsurf.sourceforge.net/) development is ongoing. There's certainly nice email clients - Messenger Pro for example.
OpenOffice? No thanks. RISC OS users are used to tiny footprint apps with no bloat. Ovation was superceded about 6 years ago by Ovation Pro. Easywriter and Techwriter http://www.iconsupport.demon.co.uk/ are also very good word processors with the ability to save and read MS Word files.
3D Graphics and modeling? I'd be happy to have something newer than Netscape 4 that runs decently.
But you can! The latest Firefox/Mozilla/OpenOffice/GIMP etc etc have all been compiled for IRIX and made available for download by the enthusiasts over at http://www.nekochan.net/
Granted, Firefox is a little sluggish on my Indy 4600/133SC, but certainly usable. It runs great on my dual R12K 315MHz Octane!
The latest IRIX release that the Indy can run is 6.5.22. There is no support for Indys/Indigo2s/Indigo/Challenge/Onyx in the kernel after this.
These overlays can be downloaded for free from http://www.sgi.com if you register for a Supportfolio account. You will however still need the base IRIX 6.5 CD's.
If you have a support contract, you can download the very latest overlays (currently 6.5.26), otherwise you can get the freebies which are a few months old (6.5.23 at the mo).
"Mathematics" is often shortened to "maths" in the UK.
I have never called it "math" nor I don't think I've ever met another Brit that would call it such.
Excellent, I will be at the Manchester event (29th June @ City of Manchester stadium). Will drop some of these in... anyone else got any other burning questions?
This is one work event that I think I'll actually enjoy going to:)
It has the same 'boing' as before.
It boots up just like a PPC Mac - grey background, blue then login screen.
Well, if you really want to...

Yes, also *three* different banks print notes:
Bank of Scotland
Royal Bank of Scotland
Clydesdale Bank

Check out the best RISC OS news site: http://www.drobe.co.uk/
C'mon it's not RiscOS, Risc OS or even RiSCOS!!! It's RISC OS.
;-)
Also, I bet an http://www.iyonix.com/ running RISC OS 5 can match the responsiveness of your RPC600

Nah. Only UNIXes Adobe's had products for were Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX.
:)
Wrong, I have Adobe Framemaker 5 and Photoshop 3 for IRIX.
Not that I use them anymore on my Octane

Shame is that you need IRIX 5.3 or below to run. All my systems are 6.5+
However there is fsv - 3D file system visualiser available for Unix/Linux.
