  1. Re:Put Linux on it and run MAME on Gamecube Linux Port Announced, In Progress · · Score: 2, Informative

MAME is probably the best reason for this project (its the reason why i just paid $15 for a Dreamcast)

Will there be/has there been any reaction from Nintendo about this? To the best of my knowledge Sega didn't care about people converting their Dreamcasts to Baby-Linux machines, I'm wondering if this will be different because the Gamecube is now middle-aged...

Nintendo seem to have done fairly well this Christmas, surely even this as a curiousity is good news for them?

Seriously, D&D really is Satan's game. I fear my children will be attracted to this game in their weaker years, and then be drawn deeper and deeper into the bowels of El Diablo kudos to Technopops for the inspired Dr Demento quote. time to break out the dark robes and dim the lights again.... and all because i couldn't do one single pull up

  3. OS Independance on SQL Vs. Access for Learning Database Concepts? · · Score: 1

Learn computer science, not computer languages, and you'll never worry about being obsolete. Going the access route puts students straight into a little Microsoft hole that would be hard to get out of. Need some scripting - going to have to be VBA/VBscript. SQL is (mostly) a universal standard and so can be used from OS to OS. Scripting? Try perl, php, c, java (add your choice here). At the end of the day those students are at the University to get jobs, and there aren't to many out there (from the recent graduate working in a call centre) Granted Microsoft is everywhere, but why limit yourself?
