We, as a community, would want "free software" to be availible to anyone for any use. That brings along with it the problem of people just using the software the community has created without giving much back. That is the price of our ideas.
Let me reiterate our position.
``Free software'' refers to the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software.
This doesn't mean they are REQUIRED to do these things with thier own code however. Apple has the freedom to use the code however they like.
Apple is just reaping the benifits of our philosophy. If we disagree with them, that is our right. If apple wishes to be code-mongers that is their right as well.
I recently (last week) was hit by the dsl bomb as well. Our company had a 1.2 sdsl from @link (atlinknetworks) which stopped working last wednesday as can be seen on fuckedcompany. Luckily with the help of nortel service was restored at least until May 31.
Unlike the woes i have heard from many other dsl users, @link actually had an incredible amount of reliability (one 15 minute outage in 2 years!) and great tech support. It is sad to see even the good providers crash and burn before they can get off the ground.
With the amount of money verisign requires you to pay for their various types of certificates, you would think that they could take the proper steps to ensure that the application is valid? A phonecall to the posted number for the company perhaps?
Running a script to generate a key does not cost hundreds of dollars, we are paying for the extra for the cost of validation. I expect Verisign to DO that validating!
SQL server 7 was built to run on Win NT. SQL2000, the newer version, was built to run on windows 2000. You can not compare apples to oranges. Of course the version optimized for NT4 will run better on NT4, Just as the new version is optimized for win2k.
Give up now! If you "only reload the Slashdot site every five minutes" you will have no time for your classes and it would be a waste of money to go to college! =D
If people are willing to do the work for the price the company is offering, then there is no reason the company should pay people more. If you want more money or a different working experience, find a different employer.
All web traffic at my school (www.wisc.edu) goes through a transparent web proxy. Aside from the fact that i often get cached pages that have been updated since last transfered, i am also wondering about their ability to track which sites i frequent. Soon they will think i am a computer hacker since i post to the infamous/. and sieze my computer! =D
But it is their network and they can have whatever usage policy they deem fit. Is there any way to assure myself privacy?
Back when I was picking beans in Guatemala, we used to make fresh coffee, right off the trees I mean. That was good. This is shit but, hey, I'm in a police station.
Heres are some great consequences of high-res, remote satellite imaging links,
(the results of which are only compounded by OS'ing the technology.)

now! So stop talking and start doing. you can get directions here.
Where there had been only cold blue sky pierced by a bright flame atop a climbing white smoke trail, there appeared a hellish fireball. Instantly it bulged into a massive flaming monster. Metal tore jaggedly, shattered into debris that that would continue to climb, tumbling and cartwheeling through curving arcs, until gravity commanded their downward fall. Two corkscrew spears of white smoke spun twisting paths higher into the clear blue sky, the rocket boosters flaming uncontrolled, burning as if in mockery to the disaster from which they fled.
but when intel doesn't have MP support, they get ripped on. But it is OK for AMD because not everyone needs it! This just points to the single viewpoint of " slash the big guy " that slashdot constantly complys to.
binaries create more enthusiasm for a project since not every linux user is a code-throwing god(TM). Remember, we want linux as a desktop for the masses, right?
Just wait till i code DeDTCP!
(This is a joke, DTCP is the protection specification that they are 'going' to use. http://www.dtcp.com/ )

"Love, Peace & Linux", what a fitting slogan.
Britian knew the threat of Hitler and did nothing to stop it. Appeasment you called it!
Own up to your own faults. You can lose a laptop as easily as any other nationality.
Don't trust certificates issued by VeriSign?
Then who will you trust?
