While it wont change the original document, If you go to kindle.amazon.com you can view your highlights and notes. Then just copy and paste to create a new document with only the important parts. I read a lot of books about programming and after a little clean up it works great for code examples.
The article talks about a OLED display that isn't backlit. The OLED displays are easier on the eyes than the current LEDs anyway and the much better refresh rate and the fact you can use current controllers make it a viable option.
That's the most common complaint about the visaplex, the black wash and 200ms refresh. Also the greyness takes awhile to get used to. As a kindle owner I'd switch to a non backlight technology if it gives me color and options for watching video. The kindle app on the iphone is pretty popular, I couldn't do it, my eyes would get too tired after looking at a laptop all day.

The author also assumes Amazon's actions and intents although they contradict the email from them. They haven't banned all public domain books they are currently "working on a policy and procedure change..."
Seems reasonable after the 1984 issue, they need a system to make sure the copyright is public domain and need to protect the customer to ensure the copy is worth buying and not just copy and pasted from any number of free public domain book sites. There was/is a book you can buy that turns out to be all 1's and 0's luckly you can return any book but there needs to be a middle ground between no oversight and too much.
Also complaining about the return on public domain books is sad since anyone can get them for free from gutenberg.org, manybooks.net and many more. If that's your money making plan you may want to rethink your product.

Why doesn't someone look at the source? It is a linux kernel. Not me though, I have a sony 505, and I'm too lazy to care.
Also, Amazon better watch out, when the creater of the glare free screen for the olpc comes out with her changable epaper/lcd screen for netbooks who will want an ereader anyway.

The admins don't really care either, they just don't want to reset passwords.
We even use a generic word for the type of work we do as a password for other companies websites. Like bank for a bank. It's pretty sad considering the damage that could be done. Money, reputation, and not to mention private research representing years of experiments.(not mine I just code)
