It's called 'revenue'. Small towns, ESPECIALLY in the south, are known for going to extreme measures to collect traffic ticket revenue. A few grand for a camera or two isn't going to bankrupt the town, and it will lead to a lot more tickets being doled out. Ever heard the term 'speed trap'? Quit being paranoid. Nobody cares about you.

First and foremost is the inability to set your own hotkeys. I understand this is being worked on, but not fast enough. Next on the list would have to be mouse controls. I have been using Blender on and off for several years and I did not know until the LAST RELEASE (keep in mind I got into Blender around .9) that the left mouse button had gestures assigned to it. WHAT THE HELL? There's a reason mouse gestures haven't taken off, they're completely unintuitive. The parameter value boxes also make no sense. You can click and drag to change the value, but the sensitivity is fucked so you end up overshooting your target by about 30,000. You can manually type in the amount you want, but it requires a SHIFT-click to do so. Not once have I ever remembered I have to hold shift. Every damn time, I click on the field expecting it to just let me type the damn number in. Grah. The way most of the modeling tools works is illogical... and not having edge tools is just fucking stupid (same goes for Lightwave). There's more, but I'm tired of typing. A lot of these issues are being addressed, luckily, but most probably will never change.

I never mentioned a fucking thing about XML, dipshit, and in fact I stated that I hate HTML emails so you can very easily guess, unless you're a dumbass, that I don't like XML as it pertains to email or text messages very much either.

We're talking about how many columns to use for plain text. This is a stupid fucking argument. You use as many as are neccesary. Any text editor/display should wrap it (and UNwrap it, something I wish nedit did) automatically. If what your using is so archaic that it can't even handle that, you SERIOUSLY need to invest in new hardware. If you can't change the system for business reasons (legacy hardware), then you probably have internal ways of dealing with it already. If you can't for other reasons (no money. Been there.), you just have to deal with it on your own and not expect the rest of the world to bend over and take it because you can't keep up.

I'd have thought by now that we'd be done with the 'lowest common denominator' in all but specialized areas. I thought programmers hated irrational limitations.

It is *NOT* logical. It doesn't even have an internal logic that sort of makes sense if you forget everything you know about other programs (see Lightwave). The improvements that have been made are still a long way away from making Blender usable for anything but people that are new to 3d. The actual UI has improved dramatically, so much so that at least visually it's my absolute favorite of any package I've used (and I've used a lot). It's the way that the UI is layed out, and the way the things within the UI function, that keeps Blender down.

Yes, I've seen some of the stuff made with Blender but I've also seen FAR better stuff made with Truespace, which is an even bigger POS. Good artists are good artists, regardless of software.
