This is an old story being rehashed. The story broke at least 6 months ago. They use aluminum oxide to print the circuit boards. It can be done at near room temperatures, thus dramatically reducing the cost of making the integrated circuits. Aluminum oxide is one the cheapest materials available.
What the hell difference does it make? They're just a different group of corporate assholes. Maybe you can what you need at Walmart if Lowes pisses you off. I say screw them all and shop and local merchants. It's popular to bitch about the big companies but most of us never really stop using them. If we all shop the local businessmen they might expand and hire people without having all the retarded HR policies.
Hell, I've been helping my mother for 36 years. Every time I go back home for a visit I'm moving boxes, fixing stuff, showing her how to use the computer again...
Isn't that why we move out in the first place? Well, that and being able to screw our ladies in the privacy of our own homes (or just jerk off to the porn sites for some of you).
In the old days people had a way of dealing with people like the RIAA execs. They grabbed them, stripped them, beat them, coated them in tar and feathers. In other words they made a public example of them to discourage other similar-thinking assholes from doing the same thing.
Are we too civilized for that today?
Genius is a BS concept. IQ is crap. Results are what count. Do you make things better or worse? Are you an asset or a liability? Only fools strut around hoping to have their genius recognized.
This is the best thing to happen for subscribers. The only party getting screwed here is GM (and maybe some Directv employees who are dead wood). Newscorp now has the ability to put some capital into the business and make it run better because they got it for so cheap. They are also in the media business which means they will take a bigger interest in getting network channels to everybody and more type of service. Directv was the stepchild of GM. Now it will be run by a successful company.

Just call them damned. Damned if they do and damned if they don't. All the users hate them because they ration out the resources. All the executives hate them because they want too many resources.
