Out of the box, I think the music wasn't as good (especially if you were using general midi). But if you installed the optional XG softsynth software (which only worked on Windows 95/98) and tweaked a couple settings, the music was as good (or better IMO) than the PSX version.

P.S. One thing I missed from the Windows world was a simple RPN calculator like XCalc.

I've been using Macs for the past couple of years now and the best site I've found for locating Mac software (free or otherwise) is Version Tracker http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/.

Also, there is a free version of BBedit called TextWrangler. It contains most of the features found in the full version including syntax highlighting and tabs. It is comparible to Nedit on Linux. Definately worth a look.

First off, this is true of *nix as well. Remember that lest step of installing new software, 'make install'? That one usually has to be done as a super-user, as it installs into common areas.
*Bzzt* wrong. While many game installers *default* to /usr/local, they don't require it. You can easily change the destination to someplace where you have write access. Once installed, the game will work just fine as a normal user. I run all my games on Linux this way. (Doom3, UT, NWN, etc...) It is also quite easy to redirect the destination of 'make install'.

Try "Skydiving" instead... for whatever reason, all of the words it fails to find mysteriously work when capitalized. Even when they are not capitalized in the page. Go figure.
