  1. hackers vs crackers on The Psychology of Virus Writers · · Score: 1

This pisses the hell out of me, the media never uses the correct terminology, a hacker is someone who enjoys working with computers and is good at it. A cracker is one who breaks into computers and screws with stuff. By the CORRECT definition almost all /ers can be considered hackers, with emphasis on the fact that most have not broken into any sort of server without prior permission. I am a part of a local hacking society, not one of the members has EVER broken into a server illegally or written a virus to harm innocent computer users, and the fact that the media is using the term "hacker" for every script kiddies that does something against the law has imposed a fake genre on all the legitimate people who call themselves hackers. People hear that I am part of a hacking society and automatically call me names in the hallways and bitch about the latest computer virus at me. This is only compounded when I join a chat room on yahoo labeled "Hackers Lounge" and am confronted by a greeting "where the 133t meet" and everyone immediately sends messages to me starting with "how do I hack", to which I usually reply with a similar message as you are reading now. I am writing this in the hope that at least one person will realize what I am trying to say here and stop the madness.

  2. Re:Portability on New Napster Off To A Solid Start · · Score: 1

For 1 $ a song you can download them and burn them to disks, but you "cannot" transfer them between computers... But anything in standard cd format can be transfered wherever u want. What i want to know is can the songs downloaded by the monthy service be burned to disks.

  3. monthyl liscence? on New Napster Off To A Solid Start · · Score: 2, Redundant

My main concern about the new napster service is that they do charge 1$ per song making it not much cheeper than a normal cd, and i have heard rumor that the monthly service does not allow cd burning if anyone knows if this is true please email me @ penguinpower_2@yahoo.com.

  5. Re:Report copyrighted material? on Telcos Stand Against RIAA · · Score: 1

The RIAA does not actually monitor packets, instead what they do is use a hacked version of the p2p server to search for files. They can then steel your ip, crawl back into the sewer, and sue you in there good old time.

(Yes i am anti RIAA and feel very strong about it!!!)

You really have to wonder why they do this s***. If they are not linking to there own web page then how are they going to sell anything? The only benefit is the nigerian money laundering scandals, those are downright funny, one of the few things that is keeping me sane in this world.

But even that takes almost a calorie of energie: ie finding the damn thing raising your arm pointing it at the tv and pressing a button with the couch all you have to do is put your fat ass on it and it does it for you.

  8. If only it DID belong to the artists on Orson Scott Card on mp3 File Sharing · · Score: 1

Copyright is a set of laws to protect intelectual property. This includes all intangable work such as liturature, music, software. These rules are designed though to protect the growing industries not the individule artist, these laws are not protecting artists they are protecting corporate "gold diggers" pocket books and need to be rewritten so the artist gets a fair amount of the prophet.
