I'd have to disagree with ya bruddah. I think M$ is chomping at the bit to kill off VPC. Why? Because it was a product that worked, could run their own software better than if it ran on a PC. Granted, VPC has it's issues, but when I and other Mac users could turn on their Mac, then run WIndows, I'm sure Bill had a fit.
As far as killing Office, I'm sure that'll happen in the very near future. MS has a habit of spiting itself on a constant basis, so this just will be habit for the 'ol horse (look at IE, I'd say a good possibility is the killing off of MSN OSx as well, if not, there's the new version of IE in MS's eyes). From all the rumor sites saying that Apple is working on the next AppleWorks that'll beat down the naysayers, I don't think it'll matter. Competition is good for the market, it makes us happy, blah blah blah, usual shpiel about innovation, blah blah....
OpenOffice is great, but I think to really saturate the marketplace, it'll need to be taken off X11 and ported to Aqua. Only reason I say this is because Average Joe isn't going to have the patience to install X11, or might be afraid of installing it for whatever reason. I've recently started using OpenOffice and I'm pretty impressed. I only use MS Office for very few things now, so I'm hoping to finally be free of the MS virus soon.
I tried to do the Capella U classes for the IT cert, then I was planning on doing the CS degree afterwards. I came close to finishing the cert classes, but had a horrible experience with my network class. There was a total of 5 students and one teacher. The students never checked in, I was posting up the homework, and then they would just copy off. After two episodes of that, I wrote my teacher to complain. His attitude to say the least, was zero to none.
I'm sure there are good, quality online schools out there, but I haven't found one yet. I've gone back to a 'real' school, I'm at NYU now. I wish I had a better story to give, but it's not to be. I feel your pain bruddah.
Mmmmk, I'm calling bullshit on this. Phish concerts are 'taped' at the 128, true, I tape them myself. I bring my deck and sit in the taper section. Re ripping it to a higher rate does NOTHING. When are people going to get that? If a song is ripped at a low bit-rate, changing the rate afterwards is a waste of time.
The earbuds ARE an excellent way of testing out bitrates, but once you get above the 128 bits, the sound diff is very little.
The anon coward that attacked this guy is the idiot looking for an argument. Christ. Music is music. Enjoy the damn thing without arguing about bit rates. Either that, or get out more often.
The way I see it, no one is going to agree on what price point music should be sold at. I believe the.99 price is dead on because MOST people will look at.99 as a bargain, ie '.99 store', etc... But I think the argument of price is useless at this point, because it's been done. 275,000 songs have been counted so far. I personally think this is a great price, I've bought 225 songs in the three or so days it's been up. I've purchased more music in those 3 days than I have in the past 5 years! The ability to get the music NOW, without having to deal with lines, gas, drive time, shipping, waiting, whatever, is the main gimme for me.
Plus... Not having to fight with that damn sticker on the top of the cd cover is a big plus too:p
Then I bought about 184 songs and albums (combo number, I think it was about 6 albums and various singles). All I've got to say is I've spent more on music since this store came into being than I have in YEARS. I don't mind the DRM nonsense. I've got nothing to hide anymore, this just adds to my big ass collection of music. I've burned a few compliation albums for my brother, but otherwise I just use my Ipod and FM transmitter for music.
I think it's a great service. Personally, I'm glad I don't HAVE to steal the singles anymore from the P2P places. I dig being able to click, download and be happy real fast. Without a virus being attached (Kazaa), broken songs (all the P2Ps), wrong songs (All), etc.. They've got one happy customer here in NY
peace
I dunno about you, but that's a bargain fo me *Think back to Eddie Murphy Standup*. 3 full albums, plus a dump truck full of singles. I'm lovin' the service. I think I've spent about 200 bucks on songs. Slap them on a MP3 CD, hop in the car, and there's my traveling music.
WHOOP!
In my eyes, Apple's got a winner.

Got shown the door faster than you can say, "Dorf on Golf". I'd rather leave on good terms than walk out on a job ever again.

... and your an asshole, everyone needs one of those too, so you just might be the only one with a job in this economy.
idiot
