  1. Bye bye beagle 2 on Holding On To Hope For Beagle 2 · · Score: 1

The longer it takes to contact beagle 2 the lower the odds are they will be able to contact it. Just imagine how big the odds are landing it on a rock, in a pit, ... Too bad things are going wrong and Mars isn't exactly the place to send a technician to...

  4. Nice try, but is that really a priority on Israeli Gov't Begins Testing Mandrake Linux · · Score: 0, Troll

Who cares about what operating system they are using in Israel ? How can they possibly manage to control a Linux or a Windows machine if they can't even control their own state. Let them first do some peace talks and accomplisch something maybe then I might be interesting. But if their conflict is going to take much longer I won't even care less in the future that I do now.

This is the first time a reply on spam is read. This is like putting somebody in jail because he shot somebody that came to rob his house. Maybe the justice system needs some more tweaking or at least one or twoo spam floods.

  6. For charity ! on Google Code Jam 2003 Announced · · Score: 3, Informative

As stated in the conditions: (http://www.topcoder.com/pl/?&module=Static&d1=goo gle&d2=google_rules_overview) Participants who do not meet the citizenship requirements to win prize money are still eligible to compete. However these individuals will be required to donate any cash prizes to charity. Participants will choose a charity to receive their winnings from the TopCoder approved list of charities. A prize-winning participant may request a new charity be added to the list, however it shall remain in Google's sole discretion to add that charity after reviewing the proposed charity's credentials. It sucks to be belgian :( while UK and irish residents may enter, hasn't anybody heard of Europe over there ? I wonder what the topcoder approved charity list looks like.

  7. Re:Poppycock on Win4Lin 5.0 Reviewed · · Score: 1

OpenGL is only a 3d framework while directx also contains audio, network and input utilities. OpenGL was created like this on purpose just to keep OpenGL portable to other operating systems. Don't forget OpenGL was created by SGI for SGI systems / IRIX etc etc but now OpenGL is available on almost all platforms. So it shouln't be very difficult to port a 100% OpenGL application to another platform, (many OpenGL based games are ported to Linux like all Quake games, return to castle wolfenstein etc etc). That is also the reasing why OpenGl en GLUT are not together in one package.

What is really missing in the article is the comparision betwoon other cpu's running at 533 and/or 400 MHz. How can one interprete the benchmark results if there is no comparison to another product ? It's like saying that something is 600.1 gigaquats without defining a gigaquat.
