  2. CEO for SALE on Henri Poole of Affero On Online Trust · · Score: 2, Insightful

As the former CEO oif Mandrakesoft I cant take his article seriously. In the early stages of the linux community we saw a few well supported bleeding edge distros with focused objectives of what they wanted to accomplish. later linux boomed, and the big distros ate the smaller ones, then became complacent and generalized. Now (In the aftermath of the bursted bubble) we see an rampant growth in little, focused, and well supported distros,(www.distrowatch.com) while the lumbering giants beg for money, or try to sell us "Services". The Outgoing "linux execs" never had a clue, they dont understand that opensource will not evolve into corprate grey. Its a grassroots thing, always has been, always will be. Its powerful because of that. Henri was a leader amongst sellouts, so he is modded into /dev/null

  3. farming in 84 on Snooping on VOIP · · Score: 5, Insightful

In other news, orwell rolled over in his grave today, as a confused nation scrambled to hand over their individual freedoms for the sake of percieved security.

Do not surrender your freedoms, granting increased voip snooping is just one more step to a totalitarian nation, where we justify acts like pre-emptive wars, racial profiling, internetwide snoop network with evil McCarthy databases,...

    Oh shit it already happened...

  4. Nuller on U.S. May Reduce Non-Military GPS Accuracy · · Score: 1

I would not expect them to be overly concerned on this, It would be more effective to use nuller spot beams from a geosyncronous byrd,(like those on the MILSTAR constellation) than to play with the GPS system, that has multiple civilian uses at the edge of it region ( i.e. areas not affected by the war, but still in its reigon... Saudi, Turkey, Israel.) The use of ground based jamming equipment and space based nullers should give a more controlled area of comms blackout, and increase the chance of misnavigation more than messing up sadams backpacker gps...

  5. THE FIRST THING YOU SEE on How Google Grows...and Grows...and Grows · · Score: 4, Interesting

I was just wondering how many people use Google as their home page. It seems to be the sight I use the most when I am trying to finish real work. ( I spend more time on Slashdot, but that dosent make it useful... its like taking the newspaper, or LJ to the bathroom...) Does anyone know of a listing or poll of homepage settings. Would slashdot like to run one...
