Tchaikovsky, Chopin or Stravinsky are by far the best selection of music to listen to while coding. The satisfying crash of Strauss is good for a core dump or kernel panic, and Beethoven's 9th symphony is good when debugging never ending while loops.
What would be good is if we could get WINE to run everything of windows properly. (Perhaps we could try and get it to load explorer.exe and be told a certain set of resources are available?). At that point progammes will not need to be ported, but just run off the windows partition. (Suffice it to say, most linux users have a windows partition, as far as i can tell.)
No, in the Commonwealth, we are a Commonwealth of the US. Civil disobedience is the best way to get this law overturned I would say. Have everyone on/. and a few other places export a single line of code with the number of the line in the subject header to be rebuilt by a script outside the country. Or just have everyone here export the code with a cc to president@whitehouse.gov. There is already a website somewhere (its several years old) that allows you to do that...http://online.offshore.com.ai/arms-t rafficker/.
Or anyone whose out there in the development of such software should simply leave the US and develop outside. I don't think anything would scare the US government more then a brain drain.
No. I don't want to always get "you can not run this as root" from Kozilla. Once its running as my user account it has a bus error and dies the moment i try and see anything other then straight html. But I've been using KFM for the last few weeks (when i'm not at console) and it is significantly more stable, being only allergic to slashdot at login time.:)
'bots walking around my house will be squised like any other insect walking around my house, completely mercilessly. Or maybe I'll make my own bot-spiders which catch the ants and destroy them.:)
No reboot is ok. No matter what. Computers should start coming with UPSs built into their power supplies and no computer should ever need rebooting.
People who think that copmuter can be rebooted to fix problems should be taught properly. I got sick of Windows when it kept insisting I reboot for video mode changes ! Sheesh. Use linux. Be happy. Keep uptime > then your social insurance number.
Heck - maybe they'll get the message when they're taken out by the/. effect:) Ah well. The world is full of ignoramouses. I'm sure we all are in our own right.
As far as I understand, the government is supposed to represent the people, not control them. The US has been moving more and more towards a police state with the advent of Internet censoring, and noone is saying anything loud enough to be heard.
Was it Abaham Lincoln or a contemporary of his who stated that the US must have a civil war in every generation to keep the country a true democracy.
You've obviously never heard of a forest fire :P
Sorry dude. That's a loss I never want to have to face (part of house). But don't you have a regulation sprinkler system? :)

Hindsight is an exact science.
SETI@Home - we come in pieces.
Its not compact disc darned it! Its compact dish...get it right. Its a saucer for a cup. :)
(ok ok, one too many cd-)ch jokes)
Wine Is Not an Emulator - its likely to be a while before it actually emulates Windows. :/

Because that's the obvious solution. PHBs don't like obvious solutions. :)
If it does do anything atrocious like make us all cease to exist, I assure you, none of us will care.
How long did it take you to beat yourself at your own game? (re prior versions)

Inflation? Thouhgt it was the $64,000 question...

vi is a bit of a pain on dvorak. But otherwise vi is what I use for _everything_ (right down to my essays for school, i format them later :) )

Do you think they'll set off metal detectors in government buildings? :)

Oh good. In that case they're spiders :)
:P
If they get too close to my computer while I'm on line, will I have a spider web?
There is. Its called claim. People use it on ishmael (one of the systems i ran) all the time. It runs debian.
With lynx supporting graphics at console the only thing I need X for is raplayer now.
Actually I know a way of bringing my linux box to its knees then breaking its back.
:)
alt+sysRQ + l
that sigkills everythign including INIT. rather silly mind you.
I wholeheartedly agree.

I'm glad I'm out of the US.
