    It's use isn't even limited to humans.

    Fruit will sometimes occasionally ferment, due to random yeast spores and animals will eat the fruit and with it the alcohol.

    Ever seen a bunch of drunk animals in your back yard? I have.

    .... and the fact that Verizon declined to help by removing the throttling during an emergency situation. They are now claiming that was a mistake, but do you believe them?

    In the same sense that the Queen of England appoints the bishops of the Church of England. Nominally, she appoints them, but their names must be on a list provided by the Prime Minister. That list can have a single name on it. In this case, Obama was required to appoint someone who would be acceptable to the Republican party leadership.

    Bonus question: why have there been precisely zero Catholic Prime Ministers of the UK? It couldn't possibly be due to the possibility of a Catholic person choosing the bishops for the Church of England, could it?

    I get messages left on my voicemail at work from recruiters who say they have a candidate for us who has looked at our website and wants to work for us. This mythical candidate always has a set of skills that are irrelevant to what we do. Typically, they are web developers and we are not a web-based company. We sell software into a relatively small and very specialized niche.

    EVs are not as green as public transport, but they are certainly greener than individual ICE vehicles. Thank the Koch Brothers for the lack of public transport in the USA [yes, they are putting money into campaigns to oppose public transport projects.]

    Do you mean:
    1. We need to go to FCEVs (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) OR
    2. We need to go to B(Battery)EVs and FCEVs.

    Hydrogen is not viable. It won't reduce CO2 emissions without some new breakthroughs. It requires a massive sudden investment in infrastructure, whereas most of the infrastructure for BEVs already exists (the electrical grid) and can be expanded on an as-needed basis.

    Javascript can easily trigger GET & POST requests for other domains.

    So that means that to attack, I must:
    1. Lure someone to a http endpoint that I control.
    2. Be able to watch the encrypted traffic.

    So, basically, the answer is to bypass the VPN for http endpoints. You should not be sending or receiving anything secure to http websites anyway.

    If I understand this correctly, the user has to visit a http: site under the control of the attacker and then the attacker can grab secrets associated with that site?

    I should note that this is a good thing. Those major firms are less likely to be engaged in visa fraud and are more likely to pay real comparable wages.

    It's a one-way bet because the CEO can either be paid a small amount, or a large amount. Never a negative amount.

    Stockholders, on the other hand, can have negative gains on their stock ownership.

    H1B use isn't up: there is an annual cap on H1B visas.

    What's changed is that "Major tech firms" are getting the visas which must have reduced the number of H1B visas that were assigned to the outsourcing companies such as Tata, HCL, Infosys, etc..

    No. If the share price goes down, stockholders lose money. The CEO, however, not so much. For the typical CEO, it's a bet with no downside.

    The question is, what performance difference does a $1M CEO bring vs a $21.7M one?

    Probably a significant improvement in performance by the $1M CEO (there was a study that showed that lower-paid CEOs tend to perform better).

    The idea that CEOs should be paid according to the improvement in the bottom line that they bring is flawed: there is no equivalent downside if the company does badly under their leadership. Yes, their total pay may drop a little, but imagine if it could go negative!

    Yes, it's possible to build a durable 2-stroke engine, but they don't put that type of engine in lawnmowers.
