I absolutely despise having to deal with crap that NAT introduces.
I currently have my nat box forward all ports not defined to my main machine. For some reason, the forwarding breaks some stuff. Like prissy file transfers brokered by the various im networks.
The other three boxes are essentially screwed. No incoming connections means no file transfers, no ddc (for irc). The outbound triggered dynamic port mapping doesn't help much if all of the boxes want to be connected to the same irc server, for example.
I want IPv6 now!
A model similar to commercial lines should be inmplemented. Option of:
1) Give users a big fat pipe, charge based on 95th percentile bw consumption.
2) Dedicated fixed speed line
Yep. I had the mandrake 9 grpahical installer hang on me - nevermind, I could use the text installer.
But hey, after installing, it wouldn't see my USB mouse. Okay, so maybe the mouse was a little too new (Logitech MX500). Plugging it in via the ps2 converter magically....doesn't solve anything.
Now I'm stuck with a useless mandrake install. Can someone tell me how to change the settings for the mandrake bootloader to have it start nt by default?
One thing though, hard resetting while mandrake was booting doesn't seem to hurt it much. On a windows system the system would have screwed much quicker.;p

What is to stop us from setting a rule where classified spam is automatically forwarded to uce@ftc.gov? ;)

This is plain stupid. Who do they think they are? Reverse engineering isn't illegal.
Maybe they don't have as many doughnuts and coffees as their compititors. Trim costs, and pass them down? It's not such an alien concept, is it?
