He left Jayne in the airlock (we never find out for how long), he told the doctor that he was going to kill him (in so many words - he told the doc that the mechanic girl had died, the implication being the doc was next) as a joke, he was extremely rude to the priest for the first few episodes, called the hooker a whore on a regular basis, starts a fight in an aliance bar every year for kicks, told the mechanic she'd look like a sheep walking on her hind legs in a dress... wow, there's more even, but I think the point is made.
I thought his character was very much the renegade tough guy, but yes he was a good guy. He carried a sense of honor and duty from his military days which I don't think in any way made him less of a tough guy or a renegade. Maybe you just think that renegades shouldn't have morals? (that's a legitimate position I suppose, but I gathered that you weren't buying that he was a tough guy or renegade, and can't for the life of me figure out why... he's practially the road warrior without the limp and less of a chip on his shoulder)
I signed up for a "fan club" over it, something I've never been a member of. Ever. In my entire (30 something) life. I don't even like TV, I'm only a moderate fan of sci-fi, but this show was so good overall I actually wrote a snail-mail to Fox (email too of course). So good in fact that I procured the aired episodes via pirate channels, something I've never done for music or movies. Not out of some moral obligation, mind you, I've just had better things to do than shuffle around the net looking for crap to fill my brain with or waste my money on. As it is I got horrible copies (including the weather alerts and ghosting of the signal from whomever recorded it) - and I've watched them twice.
In fact, I've had a hard time finding anyone who DIDN'T like it -- at least for those who saw it since they jerked the schedule around so much. I know it was expensive to produce (2 mil per episode), but it had better ratings that the X-Files' first season (a show I only caught by accident). And that was with the scheduling snafu's... says something about the show and it's ability to flourish if given half a chance.
Another note, I've heard even FOX knows they screwed up, they just think it's too late to save now. In any case, yeah, I'll pick up clean copies. Bastards.
Investigative reports on Mark Davies shows that he's not a real person" the bbc said late Saturday night over tall latte's at the office. "Mark Davies is an anagram for 'Dark Maives', the overlord of the clan of the deadly pen."
"It would seem Mark Davies, or Dark as we call him, is trying to give some credibility to his 72 hour stints playing evercrack" said his friend, editor, and level 40 assassin Helmitar, who also thinks he needs to take a shower, write an article about something other than Everquest, get a girlfriend who isn't pixilated, and a life. Dark's mother concurs, and says a 42 year old man, who does in fact have degree in psychology, needs to move out or start paying the power bill for his 6 machines he runs concurrently. His specialization was in justifying addictive behavior.
MS has no monopoly in projection, sound, theater or media markets. It's therefore rather hard for them to leverage it's brand in an industry that is not dependant on it.
Now... don't get me wrong. I think Landmark is basically screwing themselves, and hard, but Microsoft isn't really doing anything even remotely unethical here. They've managed to land a big contract, sure, and if they use this contract to force movie companies to give them MSMedia player movies vs. something more industry standard, then yes we've entered the realm of Monopoly manipulation. But until then... lets' all be glad at how easy it's going to be to rip movies and spread them on the net.

Agreed, that show kicked ass.
