Isn't obvious after all of the on again, off again, flip flopping with regard to Linux, that Sun's marketing group is just making sure that their name makes the headlines all the time???? Look at the history of their announcements, and how many of them turned out to be total vapor... They are simply working on getting name recognition, just like politicians. They just want to make sure everyone knows their name again. Just recently they announced they were thinking of making their Solaris operating system, Open Source (check the archives on Slashdot). Like that will happen... How else can you explain that last year or two of announcements from Sun?
Perhaps the direction technology is taking us scares the hell out of us. The future apparently holds fewer rights, less privacy, more commercials, etc.
Who wants to fantasize about that???? Not me!!! Tell me how do we get off this world thats heading down the toilet?
At least fantasy still provides hope that good can still prevail against evil. With techonology the question is which evil state of afairs wins over some other evil state of afairs. Mind you the heros may be good vs evil but the world in which they live still sucks!
Sure appears to me that Sun is doing something it shouldn't. These H1-B workers come from countries where making any salary offered here would be a huge step up by comparison. I believe that companies operating in the USA should hire American workers. Period. I'm sure plenty of folks out there will argue this, but thats my opinion, and being in a position to influence purchases, I will do my best to steer purchases away from Sun! If you are of a like mind, then do the same. If you are of a different mind, take your argument somewhere else, as it will fall on my deaf ears...
