  1. Re:Oh, stop acting surprised, Iran on Iran Claims New Cyber Attack On Its Nuclear Plants, Blames US and Allies · · Score: 1, Informative

Greetings sir, I just want to call you out on the use of Anti-Semitism. It basically means "against Semitic languages", which is more than just Hebrew. It isn't even the #1 Semitic language. Arabic has more speakers. It just sounds silly.

Please call it Anti-Hebrew, Anti-Jewish or Anti-Israel sentiments.

This is a ridiculous, inaccurate attempt at nitpicking BlueStrat's totally valid and appropriate use of the term "anti-semitism." The term "anti-semitism" does NOT "basically mean 'against Semitic languages.'" It means "hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group." We all know that there are other Semitic languages, but the term "anti-semitism" has never commonly been used to describe hostility toward Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, or Chaldean (etc.) languages. I assume you already know this, and are simply trying to come off as erudite and superior. Nice try.

I think you missed the point of his question. He's not asking why the summary did not use a more precise conversion than "nearly 9 square feet." Rather, he's asking why the summary equates 1 square meter to 9 square feet instead of equating 1 square meter to 3 square feet.

  6. Re:is earth moving closer to sun on A Hotter Sun May Be Contributing To Global Warming · · Score: 5, Interesting

On a human timescale, no the earth is not moving closer to the sun. The orbits of the planets in our solar system are stable relative to any conceivable timescale. The sun is exerting some forces on the earth - very slowly decreasing our the rate that we spin on our axis, for example.

In thousands upon thousands of years, the earth will only turn on its axis once per year, always keeping the same face toward the sun as it rolls along its solar orbit. This is "tidal lock" much like the earth has achieved over the moon.

  7. What a Waste on Turn Your Monitor Into an HDTV · · Score: 2, Interesting

Yeah that's exactly what I want...a 19" HDTV. If I'm spending $400 on a TV (not including tuner) then it damn well isn't going to be 19". Take that $400, and the cost of the tuner, and you're well on your way to a real HDTV that would actually provide some quality entertainment. That said, it is cool of course that this can be done. Synopsis - cool, yes; worthwile, hell no!

  8. Offer and Acceptance on Amazon Sells IPAQs for $10 · · Score: 1

This was not an 'offer' by Amazon which consumers are free to 'accept' and thereby form a binding contract. Rather, it was an 'invitation to negotiate' which really means nothing. The consumer can 'accept' but the offeror is free to reject the consumer. Amazon might decide to honor the purchases, but there's no obligation on their part to do so.
