Part of the reason for that is that life is abundant here. It has been for a long time. Where ever there's an active, lush ecosphere, the processes of life clean up the dead pretty well. Most fossils beds that come to mind are in places where it was once lush and has become less so. (I haven't done any research on this though so feel free to correct that assumption) So, while it'd be hard to find fossils in the Amazon basin you can find them in drier, more arid locals. (an aside, I live in Coralville IA, named because of the coral fossils beneath the city)
Mars today is very similar to the Wyoming fossil beds. It's a lot colder yeah, but if life existed there once, the final dregs wouldn't have had their dead cleaned up as efficiently. Fossils could be in a lot of the sedimentary landscape there.
This is a long prelude to the point that you can't use finding fossils on earth as a good predictor of finding fossils on another planet.
This may be modded as a troll, but isn't Microsoft another successful company that has a lot of money in the bank and very little debt?
I haven't taken the time to look at their filings though, so I may be completely off base. Still, the reported $40 billion in excess cash had to start as a debt free sum somewhere didn't it?
I agree that LAN parties are a better experience all around. We used to play every day over lunch at a company where I worked. I went into withdrawal when I changed jobs.
The problem is that it's sometimes not an option. I took the route of finding a clan server where they didn't mind my hanging around. Most clans are pretty good places to learn skillz in the FPS arena. Most of them also take a dim view of cheaters as well (There are a few noteable exceptions, but that's another thread).
As a result, I have three or four servers that I prefer to visit when I play online. I know the guys that play them and they know me. It's like a LAN party with lag, but it's there every night and you don't have to kick in for pizza all the time.:)
I've been using Avast! anti-virus. Free for home use. They're pretty solid from what I've seen so far. They also have a fairly good auto update engine so I don't have to worry about visiting multiple computers everytime a new update is available.
Looks like it's for WinTel only, but isn't that where you need the most protection anyway.

Then he'll reclassfy the lower and middle class as illegal immigrants.
That is, without a doubt, the funniest comment I've ever seen on /. Thanks for that. Now can you explain why I fell out of my chair to my cube-mates?
Exactly my experience. Occasionally you have to go to their site and get a new key. A little bit of a hassle, but not really that bad.
