    Have they matured to the point where they actually work as advertised now? I have tried both of them, but admittedly not in the last year. I would have trouble chatting via AOL and Yahoo IM clients. I would either not see all of the message coming in, or they wouldn't see my comments. Unreliable = unusable, thus I uninstalled them. Likely it was due to AOl and Yahoo screwing with their clients to prevent the multi-client SW from working. Even so - annoying. I would love to see all of the providers begin using a common client.

    Nice parallel.

    And fire is generally accepted as safe because it has limits and counters. Stone, water, etc.

    If a nanobot meets the parameters of fire, being self-replicating and consumes other materials, etc. - it MUST have a natural limit and counter or it would become extremely dangerous.

    Michael Crichton wrote a good book called 'Prey' on this topic - check it out if you get the chance.

    With apologies for the original state of the posting, here is a new, revised one with full links (at least, most of them).

    Summary:
    1. Linuxgazette.com - originally founded by a group of volunteers.
    2. SSC offered to host them, very generous and kind.
    3. SSC voluntarily took over editing at some point.
    4. Recently, SSC changed the entire look/feel of the site, trashed the articles at will, and basically started locking out the original founders.
    5. the founders took their content to linuxgazette.net
    6. SSC, in the form of linuxgazette.com, is unhappy with the .net folks for continuing to use the name. Sadly, SSC tried to trademark the name on Oct 23, 2003, the same day the founders announced the Fork.

    IMHO - SSC should be ashamed for its bullying tactics. They should change the name of linuxgazette.com to something else, and give it back to the founders.

    In my old 240MMX (formerly 133mhz, CPU upgrade from Evergreen), I had 64mb EDO RAM, and a Matrox MGA Millennium 4mb WRAM PCI Video Card with a Diamond Monster 3D VooDoo 3400 xl 2 PCI Add-On 4mb 3D Accelerator.

    With this config, I was able to play Half-Life at 800x600 with nearly all of the options turned on, at an acceptable frame rate (25+).

    If anyone wants to buy this rig, pay for shipping and I'll send it to ya with an AHA-2940 scsi card and a 1gb scsi HD, an NEC 6x cd-rom, and a few other things. I even upgraded the ram to 128mb EDO a few years back.
