I guess this means they won't have much of a case against kazaa if even if they can pin them down.

If Apple did anything with x86 it would probably be in something like the Xserve or something else that wouldn't rely on third party software as much so arcitecture wouldn't matter as much.

Exactly. Even though AMD's most visible products are their CPUs, they do a lot more than just that.

I think I remember reading that thread the other day and I have to agree with the poster that brought up the OS/2 comparison. Nobody wrote native OS/2 apps since it could run windows 3.1 apps so seemlessly, so it died(yeah I know it was a bit more complicated but that was a major contributing factor). It's already hard enough to get native ports to the Mac, and it will be even harder if Macs can run Windows apps seemlessly.

Yeah I remember just surfing the web. The early days were the golden age of Geocities, before the tried to squeeze every last cent out of it. I learned most of my HTML skills just by looking at other peoples HTML code. Now that doesn't really help at all.

I didn't start until around 94 or 95(remember Netscape 2?), although the www was still young then. Now it just has a different feel to it.

  8. Re:Is 800Mhz New? on New iBooks and Apple Store · · Score: 1

Now the slowest iBook is 800MHz not 700. With the 32 MB video memory and if I upgrade the RAM to 256MB, the lowend iBook is a great deal at $1050, and that's before my student discount. If you compare the top 12.1" iBook to the 12" PowerBook, it looks like a rip off unless you really need altivec. Not only is the iBook's G3 faster in megahertz(900 to 867), that's an IBM G3, which is reported to be faster than a Mototola G4 for non altivec operations.

As much as I like Macs, they aren't 64 bit yet, although they are closer than their x86 counter parts, and the new 64 bit chips that should be showing up in Macs latter in the year should be acleaner 64 bit than the x86-64.

Now it seems those photoshop fans who arre too good for the GIMP now have less of an excuse not to go to Linux. One of the biggest arguments I've heard against WINE was that Photoshop and Office XP weren't supported, so I expect all those people to switch to Linux now.
