    I think it was Zed Shaw I saw somewhere pointing out it was all the career paths other than programming that could really benefit from a little scripting knowledge. Many small often repeated tasks in every profession that can be automated. Information that is checked regularly that can be put on the desktop with widget.

    I can use any OS for a couple hours, but linux font readability becomes an issue on long multi-hour sessions. The font readability for linux browsers and e-book readers in long term use is still a barrier. I can read MS ClearType fonts almost as well as I can read the printed page

    I read a lot. Both books and online. I bought a Kindle just because of the better ebook fonts.
    Linux fonts are still an issue for long term use. More than a couple hours reading a browser or ebook on a linux distro and I'm getting headaches from eyestrain.
    I can read books all day on Win 7.
