Use dtrt as your home page and it will do whatever you need no matter what browser you use.
Gerald Oskoboiny was nice enough to give me the source when I asked for it, so I've made some modifications to make it suit my needs better (e.g. I've added Usenet search through google). For my web page, I've also made focus move to the search box automatically.
