  1. Re:TORRENT on First Episode of NerdTV Released · · Score: 1

The power of the community - getting over 80KiB/s now with 66 seeds. Thanks for the torrent link.

  2. reasonable on Gates: 'You don't need perfect code' for Security · · Score: 1

This seems like a perfectly reasonable thing for him to say that has been taken out of context to make Microsoft look bad. After all, should developers be asked to write "perfect code" - I don't even know what that means.

  3. Prismiq on Yamaha MusicCAST Wireless PCM/MP3 Server · · Score: 4, Interesting

Check out Prismiq. Supports audio and video (lots of formats - yes divx). Its also extremely hackable, based on Linux - lots of support from the developers on how to hack it, including publishing the communication protocol between the server software and the hardware device.

  4. Re:fix outstanding bugs? on Mac OS X Panther 10.3 Reviewed · · Score: 1

Quite to contrary, this bug is clearly fixed. Now there is a nice dialog that pops up and asks you if you'd like to try to reconnect - this happens after just a few seconds if it can't find the mount. This was my most dreaded bug from Jaguar and it is definitely fixed in 7B85 (Panther GM).

  5. InstallAnywhere on Binary Package Formats Compared · · Score: 1

On the commercial side, the most common multiplatform installation tool is InstallAnywhere by Zero G Software. Great tool and certainly has its place along with native binary packages - I've seen tons of enterprise applications that install with InstallAnywhere.
