I'm actually overclocking a 1.2ghz t-bird to 1.4 in it right now. The lava has no effect on the computer once it gets up two speed. The two 40-watt bulbs are only used to heat it in a hurry. otherwise it take several hours to heat it up. It's been running for a week solid now and I havn't had any stability issues. I am changing the system in it back to the xp 2200+ for a LAN party later this month. I'm playing with it now to get a feel for how things will work with it. cooling isn't a problem though.
The way I designed the case the lava lamp has two fans mounted above it, venting hot air out. and once it is heated to the "flowing" temp. I can turn off two of the lights and it flows without generating any heat to the case. Nothing actually touches the glass the lava is in. it is completely surrounded by air. so their isn't much for the heat to transfer too, and air flow is excelent.
I have created several stained glass computers (see www.lucentrigs.com) Iwas worried at first about EMI, but I figured it would be a fun experiment. My blue case has sat next to my 27" philips Tv, dvd player, and VCR for a year. I havn't had any problems with interference with any device, this computer runs 24/7. So I continue to build them.
thanks

I created the glass cases at www.lucentrigs.com. I made the base of my cases from two layers of 1/4" thick mirror. That makes the cases pretty sturdy.

I made the glass cases at www.lucentrigs.com. These cases are pretty solid, but it is glass and pieces can get scratched, or broken. I learned over time the weak points, and have changed my designes to strengthen them. check out my new case, its the black one on my site. Not only is it made of glass, it has a lava lamp built into it.
The Glass cases are quieter, and cooler than any aluminum cases that I have come across.
I am the guy who created the cases at www.lucentrigs.com
Thanks

The only problems I have had is with LED fans. I have burned several out by removing the fans from my cases while running. If the connections touch the solder, the fan starts to smoke and a LED or two will burn out.
by the way I am the guy who created the cases at www.lucentrigs.com.
Thanks.

Hi, I'm the guy who made all of the cases at www.Lucentrigs.com The fans are mounted in glass bays that I made. they fit "snugly" into these, and can be removed easily. None of the drives are screwed into place either. everything fits into place snugly, with the help of electrical tape when needed.
Check out my new case, I just put it on the site Monday. Not only is it glass, I mounted a Lava Lamp into it.

Stained glass, and case modding can mix well. Check out my site www.lucentrigs.com three of my cases use stained glass. Jer
