Wolfenstein wasn't the first of this genre either, I can remember playing Minotaur (Sorry no screenshots) on the Acorn Archimedes back in the late 1980's. Okay it wasn't nearly as advanced as Wolfenstein, but it was revolutionary at the time.
Now that zip support is built in to the latest version of windows, nobody (execpt geeks) will download an alternative. In much the same way non geeky users won't download mozilla when they have IE.
The user interface in windows zip is much better for non geeks. It's simple and works. They don't have fine control over compression levels and encryption, but do they really care? The majority of people using windows zip won't even realise that they are using it, never mind what it is actually doing.
As much as I hate it, Windows zip support will have the same market share that IE has, then Microsoft will probably make a change to the zip format that breaks the minority of other zip applications.
I thought the game was fantastic, probably my favorite game of all time, but my gripe was with the restrive camera angles. I hated the fact that you couldn't see far enough ahead. Maybe this was by design, but it annoyed the hell out of me.
Before you shout RTFA, I'm in the land of 56k and downloading the trailer as I type. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.
The popular downloadable backpack mod for the original Dungeon Siege made the game much more playable, hopefully GPG/Microsoft will have recognised this and expand the capacity of the backpack in Dungeon Siege II.
If the game is half as good as the original, then it's release can't come soon enough.
Because I know HUNDREDS of people that refer to IE as "the internet".
If the IE shortcut gets deleted? "My internet is gone."
I've had Mozilla Firebird as my default browser on my home windows box since the first alpha release of Phoenix. At this time I removed the IE shortcut from my wife's desktop and replaced it with a Phoenix shortcut and then told her to use that for web access in the future.
Recently, I had to reinstall the box, and forgot to replace her shortcut, and guess what... She said "My interet is gone". So what you say is true, but it doesn't just apply to IE.
FWIW: I told my wife to use IE until I got round to fixing the shortcut, she later complained that IE was not as good as the "normal internet" she was used to using.
There were less than 10 passes in the last grand prix not including passing during pit stops
How did you work that out? Kimi Raikkonen started from the pits in 20th place and managed to climb up to 6th position, only to drop back down to 10th before re-gaining his 6th position for the finish. That is at least 22 passes (for and against) only one driver, and many other drivers made many passes during the race.
F1 isn't just about speed and overtaking, it's also about strategy. I personally thought that the race at the weekend was one of the best so far this season, because the first four to finish were so close together.
If I was looking to download some graphics or artwork, the tool I would use would be google.
Why not simply use meta tags on your web page, to attract googlers to your site?

I don't agree that winzip will win.

Why did I think of this Dilbert comic strip when I read your message?
if the not-so Anonymous Coward works on the Microsoft HTML rendering engine
Nice, but it kind of defeats the object as that would reduce the capacity of the media to less than a conventional CD-R
Looking in the google cache, it appears as though the manuals where scanned images.
