Well what about Pracital Algorithms for Programmers, by Andrew Binstock and John Rex. I have found this book to be a invaluable tool for my job a c programmer. While it is geared more towards an experinced c programmer it does provided a good explantion of how the algorithms work and does offer a good discussion of what they are suited for. And it offers full implementations of all the algorithms discussed. quite useful when you need a b-tree at 3am and all you're thinking is "mmmm, sleep"
