It was a dark and stormy October night (naturally), and I remember seeing those hands pop out of the painting the first time, and not being able to sleep that night for hours upon hours. Your right on the licensing between Intel and AMD. But Intel created the SSE1 and SSE2 optimizations as a way around that.
