I'm sure it had a lot to do with oil. I mean, lets be honest. You cut of the oil, and watch this nation grind to a hault. Obviously you don't want to bite the hand that feeds ya. But make no mistake. When push comes to shove, we will go to war again if need be.
Hate to say it, but Humans have always been fighting over resources. Always have...maybe always will. Dunno. But with China backing up Iran for it's natural gas contracts, expect things to really get dicey.
It wouldn't suprise me if we are in the midst of WW3. But honestly, your just bidding your time with deplomicy. Eventually, war WILL happen when pushed into a corner regardless of the nation that's being threatened.
Again, I will have to slam you for this post too...dumbass!
If we supported Saddam killing the kurds, we would have NOT started the first gulf war. God damn it! I'm surrounded by F-ing morrons on slashdot. shesh
Saddam and sons were basically that of drug lords. They don't have loyality to anyone but themselves. But if there is something to gain from dancing with the devil (Al Qaeda in this instance), they will and have done it. Hell, just look how corrupt the UN is with the Oil-For-Food scam that went on.
Ummm...your miss informed. Iraq had ties to orginizations that supported terrorism. Iraq had nothing to do with 911, but it did have ties to those that supported Al Qaeda. Maybe if you done your homework, you wouldn't look like an ass posting this on Slashdot.
At least THIS jackass is doing something about it. I make 14 bucks an hour, i'm single, and live in an appartment. As of now, I'm investing my spare income on IRAs and my 401k. Also, I plan on investing into some mutual funds from Mairs and Power. Which BTW was given good reviews from.
Now rather then bitch and complain about how much the rich are better off then I am, I'm at least trying to pull myself to a better standard of living with a secure future in mind. Obviously there will always be "The Rich" and "The Poor" in society. But setting a course for a better future does NOT happen over night just as becomming "Rich" does not happen over night...unless you win the lotto.
I'm a Windows NT user myself (I love XP). Call it a user comfort zone for me. However, I just hope the Apple Mac platform gets more popular with time. Maybe then Microsoft will feel the market pressure to develop better code in order to compeate with Apples market share.
There is a cause and effect for everything in life. Can't help one person without causing another effect...be it intentional or otherwise. My point is, the world is not going to change to make a few thousand people happy.
What's that ol democratic saying??? Oh ya "Majority Rules"
I would suggest getting a better job that pays more. If you need to get more education for a better job, then get a grant from the government. You HAVE options to pull yourself to a better standard of living. If you choose to not even make an attempt, then you have no right to bitch about your current standard of living.
It could be worse. You could be working 14 hours a day on a farm with only food as your reward. Just be glad your born 200 later;)
The less investment a company has it in, the less of a chance it has to grow and HIRE people. So yes, I'm all for making it more profitable to invest in a company. If you had half a brain, you would invest in stock and funds yourself. I sware, you make it sound like only the "Rich" can invest.
Some would say that there really is not such thing is chaos in the universe. But rather, the notion of chaos is nothing more then order beyond comprehension. That said, maybe consciousness has some form of predictable order to it and thus we really don't have free will. If this is the case, the being psychic is nothing more then a higher level of thought for the sub-conscious process more of the chaos around us.
The fact that this research will prove or disprove this phenomenon is scientific progress if of itself. It may be bogus at first glance. But what IF they do find something. Such a notion would be both anoying to our current thinking of the universe and how it works. But, it also allows for the possibilities of much grander research projectst that would yield yet more data.
As a republican myself who has family ties to oil (Yes, my father worked for Shell for 30 some years), we had better find an alternative if we wish to maintain the status quo of ecconomics. Simply put, there is not enough oil on this planet for everyone. And with more hands in the pie (China, US, Europe) Expect oil to reach maybe 80 dollars a barrel in the next 20 years at best. In fact, OPEC is rumored to have overstated the current oil volume in the ground by over 50% for fear of the US investing into alternative energy. Dispite what Micheal Moore would tell you, the Middle East WANTS our business. Oil is their major bread and butter to support their own countries.
If I had something to say to the Bush administration, I would tell them to get oil companies to invest in bio technolgies and Ethanol production. Hell, even Wind Energy is a great industyr for land owners to profit themselves.
Without the sun, you will not get thermal convection (a fancy way of saying wind) here on earth. In fact, the earth would just freeze colder then Pluto and remain silent, motionless, and damn cold.
I don't know why I'm responding to this flamebate of yours, but I supposed it's because I'm not angry at you. Though, i'm deeply disturbed by your level of thinking.
1st. I never said the United States in glorious. Truth be known, this country has it's own set of problems. But religion is NOT one of them.
2nd. Europe fought WW2 primarly for itself with the US helping out. But when Japan attacked us, we did not mess around. It was best just to drop the A-Bomb as a wake-up call to them. In the end, historians state that the bomb actually saved lives by preventing casualties of massive attrition. Had we had it earlier, Germany would have gotten hit by the bomb as well and thus prevented D-Day (so it would seem based on it's psychological effectiveness).
3. We are not mindless drones. But we do allow faith to be our moral compass in life. Not all of us Jews, Christians, or Muslims are wack-jobs. But those that are however, WILL get media attention around the world. But it's much easier for people like you to paint such a broad stoke on all of us practicing faith and religion.
4. Your so full of hate it scares me. I suggest you take some time of self reflection. The very hyperbole you spew forth is clouding your judgement in a never ending cycle of rage.
Oh your so right! And while were at it, we should never have gotten rid of the Taliban or Saddam. It's not our place.....ok...I will stop now before I throw up.
Jesus Christ and all that is holy. Sometimes, you have fight for all that is defined by humanity. I hate war, but sometimes it's your only option to put forth a better goal and liberate those that are knowingly oppressed from freedom and basic human rights.
Honestly, I'm not bothered by the US basically going at this alone. What I am bothered by, is that the rest of the civilized world did not want to do a damn thing to help shape what is normal seen as the humane thing to do.
Populated central cities have always been more progressive. Just look at the previous election resaults before 911. To say it's about your ass on the line is BS.
If anything, I expected New York to vote for Bush because of the 911 event. From what I know of human nature, nobody likes to pushed around. But then again America culturally has a very very short memory. That, or it's just better to crawl back to your comfort zone.
Let's just assume for the moment that I agree with everything you just said. So you may be asking "Why are Americans voting for Bush again?" It's rather simple really. It's not your message that's the problem, it's how you deliver it to the public. Case in point, liberals have alway been the most elitiest bunch of aristocrats to grace this great nation of ours. And that being said, people by virtue of human nature despise being looked down apon and mocked.
As a republican (part libertarian) myself, I have some advice for the democrats.
1. Stop the hate, and stop foaming at the mouth. 2. Educate and hold civil debates, do not bash. 3. Treat people with respect, even if you know them to be morrons in your own mind. 4. Most important, get stop it with this elitiesm crap. It's a MAJOR mental turn off to those you wish to engage in a debate.

Screw the UN. They do not decide for the safety of the USA as far as I'm concerned.
Why did we stop at the door and leave him in power?
/BR?
Why, the UN of course. They did not want us to continue. Need I go on?
Again, I will have to slam you for this post too...dumbass!

Hurricanes are an act of nature. They've always been around, and will continue to do so. I would suggest moving.
If people started living on the north pole, should we do everything to warm it up?

YES!!! Wind only happens when you have thermal energy. And in this case, from the sun. It's called THERMODYNAMICS!

And if we will not recycle it, we should burn it in a controlled manor. That's thermal energy just waiting to be tapped to produce electricity!
