We are getting closer to inventing the Telescreens in Orwell's 1984. Google has the technology in Android phones to constantly monitor audio looking for keywords. Now Samsung has invented the communication channel for the Telescreen that can't be turned off.
I think that they could designate some common public areas in which you could fly and anybody who entered the are giving implicit permission to have drones flying around them.
These areas are called flying fields for radio controlled aircraft. You join the club, pay your membership, and you have permission to fly your drone at the field and you will be covered by the club's insurance.
I'll also add that the real problem is the number of sites that allow accounts to be created without verifying the email. I find that I get a lot more emails announcing that I am now the owner of an account that I did not create compared to the number of emails asking me to verify my email.
And yes facebook is one of those sites. I ended up having to create an empty facebook account linked to my gmail address to stop the cycle of other people signing up with my email and then I have to delete the account to stop the spam.
It won't boot until you press a key to continue. Many Linux machines don't have any facility for that, either because they are a tablet with no physical keyboard or because they are a headless server with no-one around to operate them locally.
I can see there will be a market for a USB device that emulates a keyboard and sends a keypress at a predetermined delay after power on. It shouldn't cost much to make and can be easily installed in servers that are required to reboot after a power outage.
So why didn't they put this statement on the download page?
They seem to be creating enough uncertainty to ensure businesses don't use the "free" version while leaving the door open to home users to obtain the software for free.
How long people start pointing hair dryers at or placing heat packs over their thermostats?
Anytime time some one further regulates our lives someone will find a way around it. The best way to control demand for a limited resource is to increase the price during peak periods. Once the price gets high enough people will actually start to see the cost savings in turning down the air conditioning or better insulating their houses.
I prefer a cooler temperature however I have spent a lot of money insulating my house and only run the air conditioning in the one room I am using. I use less power than people with uninsulated houses that air condition every room even when their thermostat is set a few degrees higher.
PDF is fine for what is was designed for: creating print documents. But I hate pdf when reading it on the screen as it won't fit my window width: either you have to scroll back and forth every line or the characters are too small to read. Is there any app that can 'uncompile' a pdf and fit it on a screen width ? Might be a great app for reading docs on a laptop/pda/cell phone.
In Adobe Reader you can select 'Reflow' from the View menu. For best results the PDF needs to contain document structuring tags. The PDF specification supports reflowing text however not all PDF generators embed the necessary tags to allow the viewer to correctly reflow the text.
Maybe the Chinese could use it for target practice.
It is funny to see the French complaining about a few English words entering their language when up to 45% of English words are of French origin.

I call that abuse... It is illegal in my country (having a password does not authorize you to enter, similar to finding a key on the street)
Bollocks. The owner of the email address is by definition authorized to enter. If you build a house on my land the house does not belong to you.

Is that a postscript or perl program?
Here is a program that is both postscript and perl.
