"Ad placements like these are disgusting and makes the movie less immersive and believable."
While for the most part I agree that ads within TV shows/movies are evil, on the other hand there are some moments when it actually helps with the suspension of disbelief. I remember watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and there was this big outcry about the fact that they ordered and ate Domino's pizza. My thinking was that ANYTHING that could make this movie seem more realistic would help. Even in iRobot, the "future" does seem more believable if there are still recognised companies/shoes/any nouns that we have today. I mean, iRobot is only set as far forward as 2035. FedEx will likely still be delivering packages in that day and age.
I had a patient this week actually tell me that the information I supplied her was wrong and that she knew I was lying to her, because she had gotten the real information from watching CSI.
These shows are on the air now--PBS has aired them for decades. There is education and enlightenment to be found in the cable selections as well--History channel, TLC, Discovery, etc. The problem is getting people to watch those shows when Id-level "man gets smacked in groin" entertainment is available opposite it. As Dorothy Parker responded when asked to use the word "horticulture" in a sentence: you can lead a horticulture, but you can't make her think.
why this doesn't mean people are next.

More Clones!

· Score: 4, Insightful
It seems that every time another mammal is cloned, people reincarnate the debate about the morality of human cloning. Morality aside, the difficulty with human cloning really lies in the current brute-force method of achieving the pregnancies. The team established 14 pregnancies using mule DNA in 113 attempts. Eight of the pregnancies continued to at least the 40-day stage when heartbeats were detected. The 12% chance of getting pregnant at all, followed by the 43% chance that you will miscarry if you do conceive, results in a really difficult job of recruitment. Want human clones? Develop artificial womb.
Sexual harassment lawsuits against avatars?
I took a class as an undergrad where we discussed this very issue. A character in a RPG was raped by another character and the "raped" player attempted to file a real-world civil suit against the latter. To the best of my recollection, the suit was thrown out of court. I remember no one in our discussion siding with the plaintiff.
So I'm guessing that these little tags cost money. Perhaps they'll only be able to afford to put them in larger bills. (If it costs more than a dollar to make the dollar, wouldn't the dollar then be worth more?) Furthermore, this brings a whole new aspect to laundering money. The dollar I left in my jeans pocket now registers as counterfeit, meanwhile I invision a basement full of workers adding tiny little radio receivers to monopoly money and having it become legit.
Nothing like a poorly written rape fantasy about the head of NERV operations. When people write things like this and explicitly mention the measurement of their member, how do they fail to realize that we all know they are over-compensating?

Not to mention that the (constant?) shock waves required to generate this miracle of frequency shift might be a wee bit uncomfortable to endure bodily.
