As someone who is feeling the weight of graduate student loans in pursuit of employment in the medical field, the AC got it right - just because "Doctors" and "All Professions" share the same lines on an accounting bill doesn't make their expenses equal.
Paying back student loans and the incredible price of malpractice insurance are very different things from the view of the doctor and the view of the patient.
IIRC, wasn't one of the problems with Alaska's law the fact that it was retroactive? And that some people who were convicted of public indecency in years past (for stuff like urinating in public, or mooning someone) were being placed on the current sex-offender registry?
Wow, I remember when my Dad's office got two new dot matrix printers waaaay back... they were promptly installed into a large box with some sound-proofing because they were so loud. =)
