1. There was only one Skylab station
2. The early Soviet stations were called "Salyut".
3. The various onboard systems of the various stations are not compatible with each other.
4. Bringing them all together would take more propulsive power than lauching them in the first place.
5. AC is right - you know squat about any of this stuff.
The people who are primarily responsible for ruining it are the people in charge of it. Beavis and Butthead never could write, but as the executive producers they could never be overruled. That's why Voyager sucked so badly, and that's why Enterprise sucked even worse.
The other people responsible for the show getting killed are the ST fans themselves. They fooled themselves into thinking crap was OK so long as the crap stayed on the air. So the crap got deeper, year after year, and now it's so deep that it smothered the franchise.
ST died from being buried in crap generated on both sides of the screen.

Oh yeah, and Vahl's sucks. Scary bad. Go across the street to Maria's.

Take North 1st street across 237 and keep heading north. There's a small golf course with a driving range, and a number of restaurants further down the road.
The Pin High at the golf course has pretty decent burgers.
Maria's has some very excellent Mexican food, cold beer, and lunch specials every day.
Andiamo is an Italian Mexican restaurant. The menus are split right down the middle. Check it out.
Rosita's is a small deli you'll miss the first two times you look for it, even though it's right there on the main road into Alviso. Look under the big power lines. Say hi to grandma. They're open early for breakfast.
Don't be a wuss. Check the place out.
I'm told they always have two suits on board. If the payload doors won't close under motor control, there is a standard procedure to go for a walk and close them manually.
Basic orbital mechanics:
1. Soyuz can't reach the orbit Columbia was in.
2. Columbia didn't have enough fuel to make it to the ISS.
The only possible rescue solution was Atlantis.

The OMU was retired a long time ago.

The crew would have transferred via space walk. Not a problem.
Altitude is the easy part. Orbital inclination is the hard part. Soyuz couldn't get to Columbia. It's a simple fact. To learn more, hit the library.
NASA has a program in development. The prototype has already flown.
It's called the AERCam Sprint.
2. Soyuz can't get to the orbit Columbia was using.
3. The CRV "escape pod" was never developed.
The Atlantis rescue scenario is the only thing that may have worked.
