  1. Speed on Microsoft Claims OpenDocument is Too Slow · · Score: 1

Am I the only one who noticed contrary performance to these claims. OO.o has always seemed to save faster than MSo. Especially when working with larger files. I have been impressed with OO.o's saving time and for me that is the only speed that matters since I do it often.

OO.o uses a type of incremental save where MS Word does a full save each time so OO.o is faster even with their "slow" ODF.

  2. the question here invalidates the question on Long Dev Time Equals Better Game? · · Score: 1
the question is completely stupid and pointless.

"examples can be made of both good and bad games that were in production for long periods of time"

Doesn't that tell you something... perhaps there are other factors at play here.

Additionally, there isn't much benefit to using a term like "longer" in the question without providing a "than" to go along with it. longer than what? "longer than a very short time and shorter than a very long time" would be an appropriate answer to a poor question.

  3. Art Class on Happy Birthday, Amiga · · Score: 1

I rember using an Amiga in art class. Back in highschool (class of '97). We had one amiga in our computer art class because despite more modern software on the mac and pc, the amiga still had some software that enabled us to do things that photoshop and illustrator didn't... Particularly in the use of fractals. And to think in high school it was already 13.

  4. Re:But what OSS is best for burning DVD+/-R's? on DVD Recording - Is There a Winner Yet? · · Score: 1

I am using a Pioneer A05 in an external firewire case on linux. It took some time to figure out how to get it to work, there isn't very much documentation out there yet, but it works beautifully. The pioneer drive is DVD-R. I didn't see any support for the +R format for linux in my searching, though it was 6 months ago. I don't know which format is better overall, but from my research and for my needs it was DVD-R. I don't remember the software I use beacuse I wrote a script to do it for me now. But I know I don't use cdrecord with DVD support because the author had commercial licences required.
