    I also recommend that people start sharing their own user-defined stylesheets (like they've done with Gmail), so this site no longer looks like crap.

    So, do "atomic" commits solve the promblems caused by renaming files?

    CVS thinks they are one added file and one deleted file, not one moved around.

    The best you can do AFAIK is mention the old filename in your comment.

    Why don't you start him on mods, scripts or skins of a game he already plays? A non-trivial (i.e. attractive and fun) game is going to be hard for him to build from the ground up.

    An addition to a game (even if it's just putting Pokemon artwork on someone's armor) is more bite-sized.
