I have about 20 years of experience working with GM. This is what I think: GM has a disproportionally large number of managers, a lot of the managers are incompetent retrogrades and most of then only are worried about their own well-being and completely ignore company goals. Endless meetings, where incompetent managers talking to each other and wasting the time of competent people. Most of the managers are afraid of decision making and often make often bad (and safe) decisions; lower level managers are afraid to argue with bosses and have to live with bad decisions knowing that it is bad for the company. This is what causes all the GM problems.
The idea is not new. Comrade Stalin has successfully implemented it already in 1935, it called GULAG. It is a good way to control your people.

I have experience developing on both Palm and Pocket PC. We received an order to port one of our applications into a handheld. So I had to evaluate the cheapest solution for development.
I must say that I was very disapointed with Palm development environment. It looks like you can be really productive only working on Java; and it took me a pretty long time to gather all the available info, to download all the software, etc. On another hand I was able to make my first Pocket PC application work in an hour (with Visual studio dotnet).
I do not like Microsoft, but Palm development environment sucks. They should have switched to some version of Linux long time ago.

It does not look like a war, it looks like an attempt to conquer the world. BG is trying to establish it's own computer/software/economic empire. We will be all slaves of Microsoft!

My mother is using my old Pentium machine (I bought it in 1995) works well for her kind of Web browsing, word processing and email. Hard drive is not fast enough, but the computer works OK for her. I think she would be more than happy to get a new computer for $199.
