I see this happening. What's the difference between this and Apples App store? With apple as a precidence, MS can move forward and create a version of the xbox hardware (read lite version) that's cheaper and more compact, that eschews the drive....

I worked for a dotcom in the early '00s and inherited some javascript code from a web developer that left abruptly.
It took me 36 hours of straight working AT THE OFFICE to understand the convolution he had written that was a VERY important part of a web tool we published. I was so frustrated that I shouted at an upper managment type during a meeting. I was laid off in the next round of bleeding circa dot com implosion 2002.
I promise you that when/if you find VM rootkits operating in the wild, it would already be too late. Maybe the Wachoski's didnt mess up the ending of the Matrix like most people thought...
who is watching the watchers? Man at every level is fallible. Unless you somehow have a system built on algorithms that can police based on an agreed standard, there will always be people abusing the power to watch/control others. Then if you do have such an 'autopilot' system in place, guess what? "I for one welcome...."
