Many businesses will not have this problem. Most go with some kind of site liscense if they are of any size. It will be the small businesses and home users that will have the problem. The real pirates (P2P downloaders as well) will have pirated corporate editions that don't get flagged by it.
Does that mean OSX is difficult to use or immature?
Probably not but you could say Windows users are difficult train or immature.
The guy does raise some valid issues. I just installed Kubuntu on my laptop. Everything is working great except wireless. I'm still working on it. Windows users expect things to work when they install it. They also expect easy installation. Linux is not easy for installing software for probably 80% of the computer users of the world. Of the 20% it is easy or moderately easy 50% of them probably don't have the time.
Take getting media apps working. I want to watch DVD's on my computer. Its not standard with the install and so I have to go about getting the software/drivers. One media app doesn't work for playing video that well (Kaffeine) so I get another one (Totem).
Now you would be correct in arguing that this could happen to windows. It is in the realm of possibility. Problem is there is large amounts of support for windows and windows apps and they seem to work. They also have a nice interface for installation where as Linux is often command line or you have to go out and make sure you have more repositories that have the updates or software you are looking for.
Personally I love Linux. If I wasn't a gamer than I would have it on my main computer at home. But Linux still has some growing to do to capture the desktop market. It still is not easy to install as it is in Windows and OSX. It has gotten better, but it is still not at the same level.
And you think the UN would be any different? Granted the UN doesn't have the balls to enforce anything and just way for the US to do it.
UN year one after Gulf War1: Bad Iraq, please comply with our order.
y2: Bad Iraq, please comply with our order.
y3: Bad Iraq, please comply with our order.
y4: Bad Iraq, please comply with our order.

US: screw it all ready you gutless wonder an shoot the fools. If you don't we will.
Now granted I wish there was no UN because it is a worlthless agency and money sink so I'm biased. As for US the bastion of freedom. Sad part is even with freedoms our US numbskull politians keep taking away we are still more free than other countries. Then again I've seen some countries just not enforce the rules they have.
Either way. Other countries can pull an China and make their own national internet if they so wish. Now if the UN wants to buy control from the US for 5 or 6 Trillian dollers(And not paying for it with the money the US gives the UN) I'm all for it:D Then we will pull a China and you can have "The Internet".
PS: " huge overbearing bureauocracy" so damn true. But I found the same of most governments.

In those cases you will find people that provide access to RSS selections. Different people will set up a collection of RSS selections and probably sell that selection to the less knowing. We see that today with News Services. How much of the news from CNN or Times come from Reuters or Associated Press, and then some of their own.
Uses everything. We have dumb terminals (Which desperatly need to be upgraded), Mac in the graphics lab, and pc all over. I'm still pushing to have specialized labs so we can have linux systems for desktops.
They are wanting to move to a PC environment here, but I can tell you that PC environments are hell on support. If a major virus hits I can loose a week of constructive work just taking care of then. But what can you do. Academia isn't a money pot and you have to make do with what you have or the special deals you are handed.
Lumpy you still miss the fact that everything you said can be done now with the FCC. There are already existing laws that would work with this. If you sell off frequencies (as the Article suggests) they be come the property of the owner and subject to most other property laws. Thus Verizon gets sued by Cingular for their false practices because Cingular owns that band.
I agree with electing competent people, but most competent reject politics from the start.
