Although it is slightly OT, I have heard that one astronomer has stated that Mars is a bit hyped and that Saturn will provide a much better show in a few months. Does anyone care to shed some light on this?
Heh, this morning a UW Madison ResNet router was taken out, so my connection was gone for ~6 hours, yesterday they "updated" ResNet (I guess so something like this would not happen?) again, lost connection. Hell, it has been shoddy all week here....
I am sure we have all herd of a person losing a particular sense, be is sight, hearing etc.. and thier other senses becoming more acute as a result. However, as this mans sight is now regained, if he had developed such enhanced senses, will they be lost?
I am currently a freshman at UW Madison and while I cannot talk much about the engineering curriculum (I start Sept. 2 and have only taken a Calculus course over the summer, which btw went great) I can definatly say you might want to at least give the college a once over. What I find especially interesting is the AMEP program http://www.math.wisc.edu/~milewski/amep.htm, I might possibly enroll in this myself to give me a stronger base for graduate school. At any rate good luck. Remember an undergraduate education is made mostly by your choices, not so much the actual college.
I know it might not exactly require the mind so much as sheer luck, but what about a game as simple as blackjack? Pitting a computer against a one who knows how to count cards might prove interesting, no?
The journal nature ran a commentary a few weeks ago about hydrogen as an energy source
http://www.nature.com/nature/links/030710/030710 -3.html. Registration is required. Long story short, it takes more energy to extract the hydrogen from its source than is actually recovered.
And how long before a mod so that you can play as Iraqi soldiers who participated in a raid in which there were U.S. casualties ?
My point being, it is all "fun and games" until one takes a different perspective on the situation.
Mod me down as flamebait or offtopic if you please.
Straying a bit off of the main topic, does anyone happen to know if the concept art for a game is sold once production is ended? These would make for rather nice dorm adornments...
I do own Mac OS X Unleashed (2nd ed.) and do find it sad to say that it does fall prey to the above fallacies. After thumbing through Mac OS X in a Nutshell, I would have to recommend it instead of the Unleashed title. Although not covering as many topics, I found it tended to go to greater depths to explain certain principles. But that is just me...

There is no "just" war.

However, I do believe that you must contend with 56k users, which hurts when you are running broadband.

I am afraid not. I just downloaded the update and Camino 0.7 works like a charm on OS X 10.2.6.
