I think it's more of a proof that Linux stuff can be ported without relying on X, which is why people still put up with MS Office for Mac rather than use OpenOffice.

It's more than just about a browser. It's about porting Linux/KDE stuff over without middlemen like X11. That's a nice little achievement.
