it's probably just high school boys taking quick shots of the little tart girly magazines anyway. the only problem I see is the amount of tachiyomi time. the Lawson's convience store near me is full of japanese shoolboys lined up along the mag shelf I can't see the latest tart mags when I go to buy milk. no harm done really. they aren't photocoping the entire mag and then going home to mass reproduce it for profit. but maybe they should be limited by time at the shelf. I don't care the clerks at that time are also young cute jap girls who are better to look at.
fake or not the posters that posted their opinions after playing around on it had positive things to say about it.
I for one want to hear more about it. although expensive I still am very interested in getting one and that will be my final ultimate machine for quite some time. I am always interested in a more responsive system. Jaguar (10.2.6) on a G4 iMac is fairly good for me but sometimes the gui does slow down when I select opening too many things at once. If I can find an os that rocks with responsiveness due to a fast processor and more memory as well then I will consider myself as lucky to have one of the best oses and machines going. I'm not into Windows myself. used it but prefer the Macs as a preference and I like to play around with unix things that I couldn't do on a Windows machine. so I consider myself getting 2 benefits. a nice looking gui and a unix underpinning. now I just want a screaming box to go with it. So if the pentiums etc are fast enough for you and you are using the system you like you should be satisfied wether we believe company x or not. we don't need that kind of stress in our lives do we?
All I said was that you should not knock a place if you haven't been here. You are a total assuming Asshole twat. You assume NTT hasn't done anything. You assume I am gay and American. Therefore your analysis of anything in Japan certainly loses credibility. And one thing that is obvious about you is that you have to post as AC because that is exactly what you are. And I am through....
don't bother with anymore insults. I won't respond to assuming asshole twats.
just don't want it to turn into an MTV where all we hear is stuff like that. we need more diversity of what is available to the public. not just what turns every 18-25er on.
How many of the posters here have actually been to a 3rd world country. I have been to several in asia. namely Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos. These people don't seem to need food. There is plenty of that. In Thailand there are a shit load of internet cafes also and the travelling group can stay in touch with their relatives back home. even in shit poor Cambodia or Laos. Vietnam even back in 94 was doing fine. wonder what it's like now... Cambodia at that time was really not in good shape as they still had Khmer Rouge but today..(last visit: august 02) it was booming with them gone. internet is still based on a very old system and is expensive to use the email. many business minded cambodians have internet cafes however for the mass of tourists from western countries and japan , korea, china there. and they get used. so there is a need for that in a business sense in Cambodia's example. However one thing that didn't change is the kids who asked for 'pencils' or 'pens'. last time I took a shit load of old pencils and I gave them to some people and it was like giving them gold. I've never see anyone get so excited over pencils before. so I guess that goes to show that maybe Education should be a bit more on the high end of the list.
I reccommend something like a previous poster from a 3rd world country said. If the Usless Nations want to help then first get rid of dictatorships by pulling together and if neccessary force them out. establish the peace (which they will never have the balls to do.) then pour in aid via EDUCATION and SMALL BUSINESS(which will take stability in gov't.) and watch the population do their best.
If the UN can't do the 1st thing... which I think we can say from recent past ununitedness that it's a joke to think they can, then the other 2 things will come at a very slow pace. this leapfrog thing will benefit very few in my eyes.
anyway get your ass over to Cambodia and go see Angkor Wat. It's marvellous and the people are great there. I would feel safer there than in the USA actually. don't worry most of the mines are gone from the beaten path.
Ps: please don't give money to the one leggers. it promotes beggars leeching off of tourists. they have to learn other skills not how to be beggars. like I said education is needed first.
I live in Japan. Cable modem for over a year now. some people I know just going fiber optics. You are living in the past. although Japan isn't perfect. it is not what you have experienced or remember assuming you ever were here in the first place. and there is a wifi around but I think other broadband service is more popular. and our cell phones beat the shit out of yours in america/europe. my over a year old nokia (a mistake... next is a panasonic or sanyo or toshiba) is better than most I've seen from overseas. and most young people here use their keitais(cell phones) for email or what you call SMS I believe. so don't knock the technology available here just because the mentality may sometimes be 3rd world and holding the country back.
as far as I'm concerned, You can keep hip-hop. I want the music store available in Japan so I can get music and an ipod. but I won't be storing hip-hop there. Motown yes. rap, hip-hop no. no m-n-m for me.... and I hope they don't only think that Japanese music sells in Japan. very little of that that I'd want even many clued in Japanese wouldn't want that.... and Japanese hip-hop... SUCKS even more than I imagine Swedish hip hop to.
5 * 40 ??? what a deal. I meant 5 * 80 as reasonable. I know Apple has to make some money.
but stebe jobs please do something about prices. many people said to me they'd switch to mac if they were cheaper. get your f***ing ego out of the way and include the lower end of the market too. I think then maybe more offices would start to use macs and then you'd be better off in the long run with that increase. maybe that's why apple's market share hasn't change that considerably in the time since the new iMac in 98.
I'd prefer an upgrade price too. I've heard of Mac fans being so pissed off that they were being gouged even for the 10.2 'upgrade' that they bought it and copied it. so Apple got the price of 1 OS for 5 or 6 or 7 people instead of 5 or 6 or 7 reasonably priced upgrades. so tell me 1 * 129 or 5 * 40? which is better? I can understand them if they paid for every os since 8 or 9 or whatever. Ok full price from 8 to 9 or 9 to 10 or 10 to 11. but discounted for 10 to 10.1 to 10.2 to 10.3 not full price for not a full overhaul. give us the discounted prices and you'd fair better in the longrun by not pissing people like me and those others off of gouging them for full price like we were 1st time customers on each step. Imagine having to take a driving test every few years to renew your driving liscense instead of paying the admin fee for the new one. It's like learning to drive all over again. there'd be alot of pissed off people there. all we are asking for is a break since we are keeping current and cash coming into the company. not being treated as first timers. I don't blame that group of people for doing that. maybe it's a good idea. especially after all the money I've given the company in the last 4 years. I've bought 4 computers from them in that time. now give a repeat customer a break for christ's sake!!!!!
I have used Win 2000, Mac OS 8.5-10.2.6 and love mac especially with the unix intro and I love it to death now. my favorite unix of all. that linux ppc or suse ppc can go to hell. gave up on it. I like the os X environment for the unix I am learning and the beauty I look at. BUT I am totally with WindyCityMike for his opinion that 129 is a bit much for every little step we take. maybe more people would be willing to fork out 80 bucks than 80 + 50 for the step up. you know apple... no pain no gain. take less for the upgrade and maybe more people would upgrade when it comes out. especially if speed enhancements are noticed. I hate spinning beachballs. even in Jag I get it occasionally. try moving 1000 jpgs to a different folder... even on a G4 700 iMac with 640 MB ram. beach volleyball anyone? I can go for a piss, wash my hands, pop some popcorn in the microwave, scratch my ass , wash my hands again and the beach volley ball is still going on. please.. I didn't pay 129 to watch beachballs spin. if I paid 80 bucks then I'd not feel so jilted in the upgrade.... give us consumers a bit of a break will you. and more of your customers would be a bit more loyal and give you their money. 12 x 2 or 8 x 4? which is better?
I really don't know who you are Anonymous Coward but I really think you have it out for Apple or something. Was it a bad experience or something? I think all the users using Macs are happy doing photoshop or ' business apps' just like the Windows people are happy using them on their platform. In my opinion I don't care about any games. Doom3? a game I suppose... shows what your priorities are man.
I'm no techie but I do have interest in it. and all the gcc compiler posts here are boring to me. but having interest in technical things I do browse them a bit. Frankly I don't care if A is better than B etc... I have used Macs since the first iMac and I use a Sony Vaio at work with a Japanese Windows 2000 (no problem I read japanese.) and I must say.... I like Windows 2000 more than Mac OS 9 but I really love Mac OS X the best. I've also tried Linux PPC on my old iMac and ibook and they looked ok. SUSE 7.0 PPC but sometimes I found the loads of software that were on it were not working that well as gui. I was getting into the Linux stuff but sometimes with all the problems I had with it and at the same time Mac OS X coming out I fell in love with OS X. it was slow and all at first but over say 2 years I think Apple did a lot more to improve it than the entire Linux community did to improve Linux. Microsoft seemed to have even done better with XP too comparing to their previous oses. well I still have to use W2000 at work to access the student database at my school and sometimes over lunches I'm there I surf the net. I must say my Jag is MUCH better than 2000. sorry my preference. One thing I can tell you about OS X that I like besides having a pretty face is that even though my iMac and powerbook have default installs of OS X in Japanese as I live here and bought here, is that I can login to my account in English and my girlfriend can log into her account over the LAN in Japanese. that's cool in my books. I remember having to buy the English os if I wanted my native language os. now I don't need to do that. I don't even have to wipe the disk and reinstall in English. I can have all menus in English and still write Japanese emails and letters to my students families. And they look great. I am perfectly happy with my iMac but since in the near future I am expecting some money my way and because I have chosen to be childless even if I get married in the future, I can spend MY money on ME and I tell you what. I don't care about those stupid benchmarks. If I have the money I am really considering a new G5. I'll wait for them to be out a couple months to see the feedback on them ( I won't jump to conclusions like you seem to have done....' already crap..', 'gay ass OS') then I'll make my decision to buy. but probably I will buy by next jan at least. I don't need it... I just want it and despite the big pricetag I guess I could spend more on a 'workstation' but I may finally have a computer I will keep for more than 2 years. I'm looking forward to it man. I hope you are happy with what you got but please don't knock us who love the platform. I must say that I have noticed alot of sites now have OS X related stuff on the net, O'reilly,/., osxfaqs.whatever.... never used to be this kind of thing with the old mac os. only the freaks who were fanatics. I guess the increase must say something about that 'gay os'.... I never knew I was gay, thanks for the info..... back to Doom 3 for you?
