FWIW there's a rumour that Tracktion, (a bit of a cult audio/midi sequencer amongst some audio circles) is also getting ported over to Linux in the next couple of months. My money's on this as a more serious contender for the linux audio throne, but I don't know if it'll be open source (probably not actually, as it's a commercial app on Windows + Mac)..
anyways, it's a cool bit of software that's worth checking out anyway. www.tracktion.com IIRC
