Yea glitch free as long as you don't count Real Player eating up all your free cycles and showing you ads a glitch...
Rob Glaser is such a hypocritical ass. If Real ever lived up technically to their billing they wouldn't have to cry about anti-competitive behavior, since they would own the market. Instead they make half baked products full of adware type crap and sneaky interfaces, that bogs down your machine to boot. Not to mention the fact that Reals audio and video codecs have long been surpassed by divx, wmv, ogg and many others! Give me a break.
If the EU wanted to penalise MS they should have done it in a realistic fashion and had them pay a huge f#@$ing fine, not screw with Windows, there are enough problems there already.
What no one seems to mention is any Media Player written in the EU that is being hurt by WMP!
I guess that french water company (www.vivendi.com) is afriad of paying Microsoft for some of their actually good technology...
They have changed their policy so that AFTER you go through the security checkpoint you don't have to show ID at the gate, you DO have to show ID to get through the checkpoint though.
I think you are looking the wrong way my friend. Why go through all the pain/legal questions/hardware... Just plunk down a few bucks and by a mega changer.
Is this apple.slashdot.org or what? The reality distortion is getting too much! If you don't agree that bluetooth sucks get off the site this is BULLSHIT! Maybe slashdot is going down hill, I haven't seen Malda or Jeff in Wired for at least an issue... There isn't any humor anymore, it is starting to reek of corporate control and lack of new ideas.
Oh yea, and get a new design some year! Oh wait, slash is written in PERL that will never happen.
Blue tooth is dead! Long live something else!

Is Bluetooth Dead?
·
· Score: 1
Have you tried to buy a new cell phone w/bluetooth recently? You can hardly find them. My old Ericsson phone (T68m) was such a pain in the ass to "pair" with computers and other phones / headsets etc. that it really wasn't worth the money to get the feature and an add on blue tooth adapter. (Not that I had a choice since getting a data cable for most cell phones can be impossible.)
Bluetooth will die because it is too expensive, non computer friendly and the fact that it is already dropping off cell phones just proves it. Bluetooth died because it tried to be all things to all people and was still born in committee.
Somebody needs to come up with a new and better short range radio protocol to sync devices, UWB anyone?
Sounds like a play against JAVA/Flash/Real Media to me. If those don't play easily in IE then it only helps MS. In all likelyhood MS could license the Eolas patent, but to pay off the fine so that Eolas has money to go sue the other browser vendors is downright machiavellian.
This case basically hinged on the fact that Adobe couldn't find anyone who had used the Elcomsoft's software to pirate its e-books. Chalk this "victory" up to the fact no one uses e-books.
Why would i buy the album when Moby will sell every track to every tv/radio/sound track/elevator musak company out there?
It's called being over exposed...
Weezer rocks, PJ rocks, neither will ever get dumped by their record companies for small sales figures. I personally own every one of their albums (except for the 1million live PJs), because they have good songs and I like the artists.
I did buy "Play" and it was a mistake, because Moby over commercialized the album and now i hate hearing those songs, they remind me of television commercials and who needs more of those in their life? Moby himself ruined his last album, and I have no confidence that he won't do it again, so I haven't and won't buy his new one. I hope he has done well for himself, because I don't want to see his label (V2) fuck up the White Stripes, who deserve all the acclaim and sales of any band out there at the moment, the way he was screwed up his own music.
So to sum up, move over Moby and if you lay a finger on the White Stripes may Osama find you first!
Being able to do multiple disk intensive tasks at the same time is definately SCSIs' strength. IDE systems will get bogged down with simple file I/O, esp. intensive operations like CD burning, file indexing/searching, video encoding. SCSI is the only way to go if you want to do those kind of tasks and still have a usuable system for other tasks.
How this article sparked a classic IDE v. SCSI I don't know, but SCSI still wins again!
how about adding a feature to slash that will pre-google-slash (cache) any referenced post and then automatically insert the google-cache reference next to the original link? CmdrTaco... anybody... anybody...
It takes capital resources (man power, routers, firewalls, switches, cable, computers) to peer, this sounds C&W may know that PSInet is about to eat it and they are getting ready to shift their capital resources to a peer that won't disappear and leave their money hanging in the breeze.
'cause you know I really want to know what the experience was like for the tramatized little kid that fell off the trampoline at age 5 and then made a stunning recovery from his/her / their (doubles synchronized tramp.) coma to win gold at sydney...
you want a fun olypics, then you are going to have to start from scratch and GPL the whole thing to get the money out of it, because as it is now the corrupt IOC (www.olympics.org) only has their financial interest in mind.
not to mention the f#$@ing sports they have in these olympics! I must bring up the point that, recreational activities an olympic sport does not make.
SPEED WALKING - give me a f@!#ing break (and they disqualified the gold medalist no less for taking a fast step or some bull)
TRAMPOLINE - yea, who voted this one in disney?
ANYTHING SYNCHRONIZED - oh please
Notice that there are some sports that NBC won't even show you on regular TV...like BOXING, the only place to see it is CNBC on cable. It must be too disturbing of a sport for Americans to handle,
kids might go out and start shooting up their school if they saw that:)!
The next time they add sports they need to look to
computers, code racing - yea baby!

Jon, Do you need a philosophy for a hammer? Technology is a tool and should be dealt with as such. Late, Hardy P.S. Sometimes you just gotta leave those hard to reach chips at the bottom go...
Give me a break, shut up for once, you lucky fool.

If Dante and Randle worked at QuickStop and Microsoft respectively.
Randle: Hey let me borrow your DSL line.
Dante: I don't want to talk to you.
Randle: Fine, just let me borrow your DSL.
Dante: Why should I loan you my DSL?
Randle: I want to download Linux.
Dante: You want to download Linux?
Randle: I want to download Linux!
Dante: Sighs...
Randle: What's that for?
Dante: You work at Microsoft!
Randle: I work at a shitty Microsoft! I want to go to (insert name of favorite distro) for a good operating system!
Dante: (Writes some e-mail)
Randal: Eventhough I work at Microsoft I choose to download Linux, Agreed?
Dante: You are a danger to the dead and the living.
Randal: I like to think I'm the master of my own destiny.
Dante: Get the hell out of here.
Randal: You know I'm your hero!

Sometimes a dedicated device has its place.

LOL, go bill!
"the board will look at the decision in terms of cost, not for benefit to the students"
Isn't cost a huge consideration for most students?

Shouldn't biometrics remove the need for a physical card? Just scan your thumb, no swipe necessary and you can't lose it (easily at least).

if you give your annual donation to www.irs.gov then you DO pay for it...its just the money is finally going to something usefull.

wouldn't this be a cheap way to test the new system, at least it would give NASA an excuse it hadn't used before.

I am hereby declaring my patent on Three Letter Acronyms (TLAs) and Javascript rollovers...
Do I need to create an XML language for TLAs?

isn't everyone jumping the gun a little here and assuming that IPv6 will actually happen?
BeOS currently doesn't support multiple network adapters...check out the breaking news at the Be website, it is a known issue.
