  1. Re:Drupal + CiviCRM? on Customer Resource Management For Non-Profits? · · Score: 1

The company where I work is looking into the Drupal + CiviCRM for a non-profit client. We still in the early stages of evaluation but it looks very promising. I'm not sure out the Outlook integration, but Drupal has soooo many modules that I can't imagine it being an issue. And did I mention it's free?!?!

  2. Yes - you must understand on Is Verizon a Network Hog? · · Score: 1
You must understand the architecture. Verizon is only delivering video to FiOS customers. So all the posts from DSL users do not matter. FiOS is their brand name for Fiber To The Premises (FTTP). They basically deliver a fiber optic cable to your home or premise. Over this fiber, they have 3 laser wavelenghts. One is for video and the other two are for the incoming/outgoing broadband data.

SO IT DOESN'T MATTER!!! Your data and video are separate. There is no overlap or oversaturation of video messing up your internet data or phone calls. Also, they are setting it up so that the video never travels across the public backbones. Only from Verizon's points of the physical networks.

So this is all completely bogus. Somebody is running their mouth when they don't have all the info.

  3. ipodlinux status on OGG Capable Car Stereos? · · Score: 1, Informative
I just check the status of the ipodlinux project http://ipodlinux.org/Project_Status

I know in the past it was choppy with ogg vorbis playback. But I would think with the new iPod photo and video players, it will surely have enough horsepower for Ogg.

Unfortunately, they have limited features working on the newer models. I'm a sucky programmer, but maybe there are some others out there who could contribute...

  4. Portable Ogg Player on OGG Capable Car Stereos? · · Score: 0

There are a few portable players similar to the iPod that play Ogg Vorbis, though I admit too few. One is the MPIO HD300. I've been trying to buy one on eBay, but I'm too cheap to pay more than $200 for the 40GB model. If I recall, Neuros, iRiver, and possibly Creative had a model or two with Ogg support. Except for Neuros, Ogg support is hit and miss among the various models availabe. But at least you do not have to transcode and possibly lose quality. Just snag an Ogg player and use an FM transmitter or cassette adapter. Plus, you can use it outside of the car!

Really, I can't seem to find the sentence where he claims he wants to run it on the same box. What he does say is that he's considering "Squid for NT." Note the "NT" at the end of that. That means squid will run on his existing platform. According to your logic, this should make him happy. But it doesn't.

Hmmm.... I want a M$ solution, so I'll go ask a bunch of predominantly gnu/linux folks their advice. But I prefer the advice to lead me to a M$ product. Let's see, which speed dial did I have Linus on? Oops, that was Alan...

Ok, now I need some help getting gcc to compile some stuff on my debian box. Let's see, which speed dial did I have Billy on again? Oops, that was Stevie.

I know, I'm a smart@ss who is probably being harsher on you than you deserve. The community loves helping others and sharing the knowledge. It was just the way in which you said you would prefer a M$ solution that really seemed insulting. As if a FREE solution wasn't inferior.
