    No, you got it wrong

    Real is not "Cruzeiro Real"

    Most of this fuck-up was due to an ex-president called Jose Sarney, that idiot voters keep reelecting him for Senate (but he's more harmless there)

    Once he got out, inflation went to "less absurd levels" (40% per month) until they switched to Real (using a non 1000's multiplier - or divider)

    Inflation now is "high" in the Real context (around 20% per year for some segments, tops, except real estate)

    In practical terms it's not. As the articles mention, this only applies to loans, not to trade. Think about it, who ever wanted a loan of Brazilian Reales?

    Funny, because (Brazilian) Gov. Bonds can be bought either attached to interest rate (not sure this is the right name) or attached to the dollar value.

    Most products I've seen use either a serial EEPROM, flash or code (up)loaded from another processor on the board.

    That's not all there is to it

    - Fuel Costs and passenger capacity
    - Fuel capacity (range 4.5k miles)
    - Concorde was (a little bit) tighter than your average economic class
    - Sonic booms over land are LOUD, they usually don't allow that

    And for your example, a 12h trip wouldn't be done in 3h but rather in 7h (probably more if you count the fuel stop)

    I still think Supersonic planes may have a chance if they are built with today's technology (or maybe tech coming in the next 10 years).
    Especially relating to weight savings, supersonic engines, CFRP, advances in CFD and performance optimization, etc

    Yes

    I'm guessing for example, LAX-SYD could be supersonic most of the time, as opposed to LHR-SYD that would probably stay subsonic most of the time (unless they did a polar route, but then there are other issues)

    DC to Hong Kong - 8k Miles

    Definitely one of the worse, but try:

    London to Sydney 10k miles (done in 2 segments via Hong Kong or BKK)
    Sao Paulo to Tokyo 11k miles (2 segments as well via LAX)

    And I've been to several remote teams

    - Have email and preferably shared calendar. Google Apps can do that for you
    - Task management. ScrumDo has positively surprised me
    - Wiki: Redmine instead of Trac

    Code-wise, if you need for programmers, IMHO nothing beats git-svn.
    SVN: easy to setup server, centralized, plenty of tools, etc
    Git is killer for the client though. Other 'less wise' clients can use tortoise svn

    Yes, PP is 'evil' but at least it knows how to do money wires properly (as opposed to most banks). And don't charge ridiculous fees.

    If it's like you're telling, Win 8 sounds like Vista^2

    Really, Microsoft got the most inept, idiot, unexperienced people to work on Networking for Vista (both the stack and the management interface).

    I'm guessing Win 8 will be similar, even if it has a new kernel (which sounds great)

    And yes, I checked if it was something else before 'nuking' it. I didn't need what was in there, so erasing it was a no-brainer.

    But yeah, take your time to figure out what it is while your machine is spamming the world and scanning other boxes for vulnerabilities.

    Actually, I've seen my share of linux boxes with malware on them

    Either scanning my servers or actually being in my servers - saw a CPU surge in a box, lasted an hour before I just 'destroyed' the (virtual) box

    So yeah, there are worms that make their way across linux boxes

    Yes, you're right, I read more about it after I posted, even though the main effects of DHT are in the baby formation inside the womb

    But it still has androgenic effects.

    Even though I wouldn't call blocking DHT "a dramatic decrease", according to Wikipedia 5% testosterone gets converted into DHT (and IIRC finasteride doesn't block it all, even though I couldn't find the percentage). And you'll still have testosterone (even after aromatizing)

    No, it's not that.

    It causes damages to the process of male fetus formation. Because it blocks DHT (derived from testosterone) and that works in the formation of male characteristics.

    If it's a girl in the womb, no problem. But of course you never know, and by the time you know it's too late.

    What utterly amazes me is how people find and overblow the side-effects of any drug.

    Next it's going to be aspirin, or ibuprofen. Funny how nobody goes at Acetaminophen, where you can kill yourself using it.

    Back to Propecia, it's NOT an antiandrogen!! It actually increases your testosterone, because it blocks it converting to DHT (a hormone that's basic useless for you ,except for making your hair fall and enhance prostate cancer, after you left the womb)

    The real question is, did these people had zero fertility problems before using Propecia?!

    Besides, some people would very much like have their fertility gone using medicinal means.

    Note: I'm a Propecia user. Side effects: ZILCH, NOPE, NONE, NADA Intended effects: great

    Buildings are always useful, and it's never money wasted. If one department can't use, others can.

    As opposed to faulty or outdated equipment, overpriced projects that end up in nothing, etc

    1 - Started grad School (MSc)
    2 - Dropped out (or better, was 'invited' to drop out by my supervisor)
    3 - Never looked back

    In reality Academia will go: "this isn't in my research area so I don't care", "you didn't prove the linearity of the solution", "not enough citations in your paper"

    Corporate will go somewhere like the comic, but they may also be happy with you cause you solved a problem that was delaying the schedule,
    no one could solve or it had a bad impact on the product (happened to me, and it got me 'karma points'

    Academia: Too much work, not enough pay. And as the article mentions, it's problems and solutions that don't apply somewhere else (even though mine was in Wireless communication)

    Most of the people that kept going are earning less than me and/or at a previous stage at their careers.

    Granted, my supervisor was 'inexperienced' to say the least.

    Really, I'm glad I got a job instead of pursuing an academic career. Where I can work with what interests me,
    people can use your work, there's less sucking up, less BS and at least I get payed.

    More or less, but yeah. Analog is cool, but it's difficult. Give me the digital part any day of the week.

    (Depends really, one thing is creating an amplifier from scratch/transistors, other is using Opamps, still, you have to play with it sooner or later)

    Funny is that according to the Article, Algebra II is really one of (IMHO) useless parts of the curriculum (yes, I had it in High School)

    ended up using some of it in Engineering School after all
