IE7 will render IE6 useless if you install it normally. If this happens, go to add/remove programs, click show updates, and uninstall it (all the way at the bottom of the list)
To "install" it side-by-side with IE6, unpack the setup exe with winrar into a folder of your choosing. Delete both the update folder and shlwapi.dll. Create a text file called "IEXPLORE.EXE.LOCAL" in the same directory. Run iexplore.exe
Appears to be better than the beta1 (post cumulative update) hack, which required a command line window stay open. A few buggy things still happen when wandering down this old route, but better than nothing...
