Legislation which - if history is any indicator - will do nothing to prevent tragedies like this, and will actually make our society more susceptible to this sort of thing, as fewer people have the means to defend themselves
I'm not meaning to preach, but what historical indicators are you using to base this on? What exactly about this makes you think that our current system ended this any better? What makes you think it would have been 33 instead of 32 if it had been harder for the shooter to get a gun? As for defending themselves, was there a mad rush of gun owners running into the building to plow this guy down that I'm unaware of?
Yeah, I've got to jump on this one also...
Studio 60 has been better than good, though admittedly less than great. IMHO Sorkin's writing is the key here. The man knows how to produce a show. Overall, its reminded me that modern television can actually be good.
Heroes was extremely pale in comparison. Its gonna end up being like CARNIVALE, with a moderately larger viewer base because its network TV, basically too slow for average viewers. If I wasn't a nerd, and therefore a super hero sucker to start with, I probably wouldn't watch week 2. The first was just too damn tedious. The effects were horrible (best super hero effects => weak wire flight for 5 seconds and a chick with a flame the size of a bic lighter on her arm), and the story really needs to pick up. Is this really someone's idea of a pilot?
Maybe NBC blew its wad on the bidding war for Studio 60 and couldn't adequately produce Heroes 1, but so far Studio 60 has earned its right to stay on the Season Pass list, and Heroes needs to pick it up to remain.

once again proves that geek security is compromized by cleavage or the promise that someone likes you.
This is an ENGINEERING school, buddy....they don't have cleavage there.
I wonder if this may be the very first time on slashdot that a "???" didn't come before "PROFIT!"
Well I'm hoping he didn't go through all this to take a pay cut, so I'd imagine profit is in there somewhere.
