The thing is that the leaders can often be powerful and rich, but you can't whip up people who are well off. They're too busy making money. The poor can be organised because they can be lied to that some group (normally that they are not in regular contact with) are to blame.

Also, wealthy people often have more contacts with more diverse groups, and so know what they are really like.

The key thing is that someone understands what is being written.

How often do I see "lose" spelt as "loose"? Is it a bit irritating? Yes. Does it mean that I can't understand it? No.

Likewise, apostrophes. I can't think of a sentence that I've read where the misplaced apostrophe actually changed the meaning of the sentence. There's a shop near me with a sign that says "Top Bag's". I know that it's meant to be "Top Bags", and not telling me that the shop is owned by someone called "Top Bag".

People were complaining in the early 1970s when Slade produced records called "Cum on Feel the Noize" because of bad spelling. I imagine that people have probably been complaining about stuff from the time of Dickens.

Such a case would be a PR disaster. You'd start to see government taking a far more pro-consumer line on CDs, possibly bringing in all sorts of legislation like forcing media replacement or upgrade at a small fee.

They seem to think that they can have another Vinyl to CD upgrade golden time, forgetting that CD offered something more, and that spikes in an industry (like Y2K for COBOL guys) are just that. CD is about the pinnacle for most people. Most users would be better off upgrading their equipment before improving their media.

Concentrate on making better music, and maybe creating a better value proposition. I can pay for a DVD rental service for a month for less than the price of a CD.

Hjalmar Schacht, Hitler's minister of economics was heavily influenced by John Maynard Keynes, a socialist who believed in command economics over laissez-faire, and who advocated government spending as a way out of depression. The public works in Germany, like the Autobahn were directly a result of that - not led by the public, but a job creation scheme.

How about a policy manifesto that states: "That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished. " or "We demand that all the profits from wholesale trade shall be shared out." or "We demand the creation and maintenance of a healthy middle-class, the immediate communalization of department stores which will be rented cheaply to small businessmen, and that preference shall be given to small businessmen for provision of supplies needed by the State, the provinces and municipalities." or "We demand a land reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to confiscate from the owners without compensation any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land.".

Those are socialist policies, not a million miles from the policies of Marx and the Labour Party's old Clause 4:-

"To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service."
