    Not true at all. I've been at the same place for almost 11 years. Started out answering helpdesk calls and I'm the IT director now with six employees and I make 3.6x (I just did the math) what I made when I started, not including car allowance. Not everyone gets to eventually be the boss, there's not management positions. Anyone who thought that was ever the case is wrong. There are a million examples of people moving up through the ranks, most promotions happen from within organizations, not from outside. Just look at the new Ford CEO.

    And you believe the US government doesn't have access to this .. why? ownDrive is just ownCloud slightly modified and hosted by a 3rd party. What assurance do you have the NSA doesn't run it, let alone have access?

    Just tried it from an iOS device (iPhone 5S) and the document editing doesn't work at all. If I tap a .odt file it just shows me the thumbnail, which is the default behavior for any filetype. Works fine from my desktop computer.

    How old? I've built ownCloud 5 and 6 servers and both have been very easy to setup and configure, and are extremely fast. I haven't had a single problem yet.

    Oh. Why? ownCloud has it's own windows client. If the problem is he's to lazy to spend less than 1 minute downloading the ownCloud client, double clicking, pressing next then typing in his credentials then he's probably not going to invest the effort in setting up the server.

    So NYC and LA should have sat around on 3Mb/s cable until every home in rural Montana had it? That's literally the dumbest thing I've read today and I just read the comments about the Oregon Health Exchange problems (yikes).

    Most of the FAR left would prefer a single payer healthcare system like the NHS. Most moderate liberals and every republican would never stand for it. Most of the far left just tends toward socialism. We put all our money in a pile then we split it. That's genuinely how they think. If you don't believe me, just look at every social wellfare and entitlement program.

    Obamacare actually saves money while insuring more people.

    Saves WHO money? My premiums went up, along with most people in the country.

    The fact that you can build a state exchange doesn't prove the law can work. There are many components and just being able to purchase insurance is one very small part. I'm not saying the law CAN'T work, just that you cannot draw that conclusion from one tiny piece.

    Holy shit, it was Medicaid and Medicaid is NOT INSURANCE. It's a SOCIAL SAFETY NET FOR THE POOR. I work in healthcare, we didn't need to spend $300m for yet another way to enroll people in Medicaid/care. Walk into any SNF in the country and they'll apply FOR YOU.

  18. I'm not sure how you got that out of it. What they're saying is that saying healthcare.gov was a mess but it doesn't matter because the state run exchanges were going so well, when in fact, Oregon's was not.

    SSDs are still very fast, even with compressed data (see here). Still many times faster than spinning media. And one pass across the drive to encrypt it is totally inconsequential as far as drive endurance.

    Current drives are ~550MB/s on SATA 6G, which makes these 5 times faster. To me, a single generation improving 500% is "absurdly fast".
