And it's also worth noting that installing two firewalls like that is paranoid and stupid. Especially if the first one isn't even forwarding ports, something some 90% of computer users don't even need to do.

Although that is true if you only have one machine, businesses and people with small home networks would be well advised to use both. E-mail worms which infect a single machine and then set up a mail server might then be stopped before infecting the rest of the machines on the network. The days of perimeter only security are gone.

yes, that is correct. In order to provide anonymous voting to all registered voters, you are not required to have ID. The only thing keeping you from using someone elses name is the possibility that they will show up later (or have already shown up). In fact, this seems like a fabulous way to invalidate _all_ results at a polling place which is not likely to vote in your favor. Simply show up early with a couple of dozen people who claim to be local residents. When the real people show up later there will be no way to determine which votes were valid and which weren't.

Several people have mentioned the 'accidentally drop 20 photos onto the dock' problem. I was about to mention that you can hold down the command key in order to lock the trash, and probably apps while dragging but I wanted to try it over the apps first. The command key will lock the dock during a drag operation. But as it turns out, the whole issue seems to have been fixed in panther anyway. Dragging files to the dock in panther and missing will not place those files in the dock unless you are dragging them to the right side of the seperator. If you are trying to open them in an app and miss they will just return to where you dragged them from.

approximately 1 hours commute from Manhattan is roughly $300,000 dollars. As you move closer to the city, the price rises very quickly. Once in Queens (part of NYC, but not Manhattan) in a neighborhood like Middle Village or Kew Gardens, you are now a half hour commute to Manhattan, and a similar home will cost $500,000. Own an apartment in Manhattan itself, and the price can easily excede $1,000,000.
San Francisco Bay Area is similar, but the commute times are longer. The median home price in the seven bay area counties is now around $470,000. Even a good hour's commute from San Francisco you won't get much for your $300,000 and it will probably be a fixer-upper in a bad neighborhood. To actually get inexpensive housing you have to go about 70 miles over to Tracy in the central valley, anything along the coast will be pricey.

For $40,000 I think that you are either getting a small empty lot in a rural town, or moving to utah.

actually, apple has been releasing 10.1 security patches all through the 10.2 lifespan. In addition they have been patching Mac OS 9 as well. This would truly be a change of attitude if it is true, but I imagine there will be enough hue and cry to fix it.

They did, however, skimp on labor costs by convincing students to lug the 19 tons of equipment into the facility for them.
