Not to mention that it only works for native speakers. I don't punctuate anyone's speech with anything, even when I talk English. It's just not part of my speech culture. So how is this device going to find out anything?
Well, sometimes you don't know if you have right of way or not. Not sure about signs in the US, but in Finland an upside-down triangle means the crossing road has right of way, instead of the usual right-hand rule. Sometimes the triangle can be obscured by trees though, so I tend to go by instinct: if the crossing road is obviously bigger, I look out carefully. In some rare cases my instinct tells me wrong (false positive for triangle sign), but it's not dangerous, merely a bit annoying for the other car.
You're right of course, but some people don't get this. They notice the car isn't under prefect control, and start to brake at that time, which escalates the situation. This is even worse of a mistake in the winter or heavy rains, with less than optimal roads.
Unfortunately, some roads are known to have certain irregularities in them, more commonly known as 'turns'. Some people find that turning the steering wheel helps during an encounter. Too fast is simply too fast for safety.
Uh.. going nuts over an article that merely goes straight to the point isn't nerdy? Finally we have an article that provokes some discussion, while at the same time weeding out the puritanist high-nosers. Good shot, Zonk!
Unnecessarily explicit though, even if it was only a quote from TFA.
I haven't seen anyone bragging here. You're complaining about nothing, so be quiet.
Back on topic: The article mentions the sudden show-stopper that some games have, and I have to agree. It's probably the most frustrating thing that can happen in a game when nothing new happens, and progress is only past a string of delicate button-twitching. Now, some games are based on that, but that's ok. What's bad is when the difficulty curve goes up like a rocket without warning, or reason for that matter.
Actually, I find it refreshing when the next Boss enemy happens to be easier than the previous one, it gives a kind of breather while bolstering confidence. I'm playing Castlevania right now, and one really neat thing is that there are a lot of bosses. Not big ones, but reasonable ones, and I sometimes can choose which one I go to. Some are easy and go on the first try, while some take 5 tries of sweat before barely making it. Of course, leveling up a bit helps before, but I also have a choice:
If I'm continually wasted by an enemy, I can go somewhere else, where there's more fun things to do. This is a Good Thing.
I'm guessing there's a lot of young readers on slashdot:). Anyway, if you think this is more upsetting that tubgirl, then, well.. that's quite upsetting by itself.
The article places a valid point, but the hardwood floor is just unnecessary fluff. That's all, nothing more.
I get the feeling that a lot of slashdot readers are insecure about sex. Just note the amount of "This is juvenile, we all know he just wants to increase ad impressions by posting about sex which is guaranteed to appeal to shashdot readers! Zonk go away! I will n3v4h read slashdot again, I don't want to read about females and their orgasms, I want to read about breasts!" you'll find on this page.
Ok, it's not high class writing, but take a look at yourself and what you're writing.
An important lesson to learn is that it's ok not to achieve orgasm. Having fun is more important. Thus, to continue the analogy: If a game's dificulty curve explodes upward too fast, and you can't progress, just leave it. It was fun while it lasted, but you don't have to torture yourself to it right now. Leave while you have your sanity and play something else instead. Sometimes that works in sex too, incidentally.
What's wrong with comparing technology to another important field of life? What's juvenile about talking about female orgasms? And what makes this submission (or rather, the article) juvenile?
Do you find it objectionable that the progression of sexual excitement during sex can apparently readily be compared to another form of progressive excitement? Both are functions of the human brain. tell me again: how is this not relevant, stuff that matters, and interesting.
Some replies in this discussion say roughly: I'm not prudish, but this is total garbage, I'm never coming here again! So there!"
Some of the cheaper clones have bad level design. A good level design should have some path, easy or hard, where the ball can readily bounce around for a while, generating an orgasm of raining bonuses and taking out enemies like flies as soon as they appear. Many things can be compared to sex and sexuality, why not games?
How about OCR? No seriously, no need to print it out, just make image files of every page, and scan the output into some simple html format with and where appropriate.
Only once is great while are Google's results actually better.
And don't forget they Yahoo's results that aren't for while Google by then.
But seriously, I use google mainly out of habit, and because I haven't bothered to define "y" for Yahoo in Opera. "g search words" is such a habit. And "w stuff to learn about" for Wikipedia. I don't really need any more search results.
And some people use Windows because a lot of fancy specialized software runs only on that (think audio), while other minor boxes can be running whatever OS.

I thought "IT staff" means gender-neutral by default. Or at least single gender.
No, it was a Toshiba.
Y feel a need to go to the toylet.
...which indirectly places a restriction on weight, so I was originally right! .. indirectly.

Yes, a reg.plate with yellow background means it's a lightweight class car. I wish we had that in Finland as well..
Unfortunately, some roads are known to have certain irregularities in them, more commonly known as 'turns'. Some people find that turning the steering wheel helps during an encounter. Too fast is simply too fast for safety.
I think there's way more Final Fantasy than anything else, but perhaps you mean modern ones.

Who's being immature and juvenile?
And the music in Arkanoid is the best, btw.
Actually, Link is more like yellow-pinkish. And he wears all green clothes. Seriously.. he's a minority all by himself.
Slashdot crowd: "You don't have no girlfriend, eediot!"
Who says it needs to be attached to a woman? mua-a-ha-HA-HAA.. ok, carry on.

Damn, that actually happens to me.

That minimalist UI is so minimalist it doesn't even have a working link to their own logo.
